Actual tweet from Smith on the Lakers:

    They're contenders. Just not champions.

    http://twitter.com/#!/stephenasmith

    I agree 100%.

Only the Mavs are champions right now much like the Celtsspurs we are former champs.

My guess is the heat are the favorites (again) ...no issues with SAS on this one ...

& as long as Kobe leads the tired old bag Duncan 5-4. That's the crux of it. Everything was hunky dory at 4-3 Duncan.

    Tough .

Plus, The Bet and subsequently The Regulator being born really threw a wrench into everything.

Luckily, there were two polls by The Queen and that's the end of that.

Kool, these dudes are hoping, wishing and praying that Kobe's knee ain't right. If his knee is right, he can close games for us like he's done throughout the years.

I saw a YouTube vid of him dunking as well - this a few weeks after the surgery. He couldn't do that with regularity last year which was a sign of his health not being right and it cost us against Dallas. Now, he's as healthy as he has ever been in years. Even on a bum knee he still gave us 25 ppg. I am expecting a big year out of Kobe this year.

Kobe will be fine. He's not the feared player he was, but he's still a damn good player. Let's see if he is man enough to stay disciplined with a coach that doesn't command respect.

Kobe is more productive than Tim at this point in their careers. Tim is still a good player, especially for his position, but he would need Kobe level supporting cast to have a legit shot.

Been close to 6 months since I checked out the NBA board ... Kobe's balls have still yet to leave Kool's mouth.

Not so hygienic - but impressive loyalty.
