That dude has been absent for awhile. Its been pleasant.
I have a hard time choosing from the experts in their fields as most knowledgeable poster. FWDT, Scott, Agloco, and LNG all come to mind. If I had to pick one I'd go with Agloco.
Random Guy gets my vote for most open mind and he gets it by a long shot. I've never seen anyone else approach his level of patience for reading posted by Wild Cobra. The man was likely a saint in a past life.
My favorite poster this year has actually been LNG though. He's got the right combination of Open Mindedness, Knowledge, and Entertainment Value making him a triple threat.
Thread of the Year for me is the climate thread although the one where Fuzzy busted out the partschanger moniker that has stuck so well is a close second. In the climate one, Darrin and WC provide a lot of laughs for me and in Fuzzy's WC provided the laughs. That being said, I think out of the two only Darrin is a real poster so that pushes it over the top.

I quibble with classing boutons as independent. He reps the " pox on both your houses" line with the best, but when pressed, his preference for the Democratic Party is unmistakable.
