Jekka and I met up with some people (a couple of which post on here) and watch some football and soccer, enjoyed some good beer (2010 La Muerta is still king, IMO). Good times were had. Hope you can come out sometime when I'm in town again!
Had St Arnold's Santos Ale last night.
Liked it well enough, but loved that bottle.

Picked up some Jubelale today. A pretty good winter ale. This Deshutes Brewery makes some pretty good stuff. The place where I got it is getting this soon.
I'd never heard of it, but the reviews have me pretty interested. They also have some Ten Fidy. Anyone heard and/or tasted that beer?
If you advertise it, I'll try to make it out. I'd like to met some other regulars. Only two folks here can identify me in a lineup.......
Looks like a meal in a glass.......
Wonder how that would go with some turkey, stuffing and cream-cheese mashers.
that stuff looks dark as . i wish i knew where you guys were getting this stuff tbh.
i snagged an abyss yesterday, it sold out at my local store in a few hours.
Damn Lee, what area are you in? Seems like you're on top of all the sweet stuff.
Cool. How was it or are you saving it for later? The place that I get all my stuff at keeps all the special stuff in the back. When I went in a while back and asked for Punkin Ale, the guys eyes lit up and has pretty much told me of all the special stuff he keeps in hiding. He told me that he was only allowed 1 case of the abyss and will let me know when it comes in. I need to see if he can get Tsjeesus's Reserva.
Austin. I just follow breweries on Twitter and talk with the guy who owns Sunrise Market. He tells me what he has ordered and when it's coming in. I got lucky yesterday, my gf's car broke down and I got there late after helping her. He told me they were sold out already, but he saved one for me. I was crestfallen for a minute. My roomate still has a 2010 Abyss so we may do a mini tasting soon.
Yeah the place I got it only got two cases.
I think Jess has had the Abyss but maybe I'm thinking of a different beer. I don't remember trying it. We have a great little liqour/beer shop very close to us that always seems to have good beer on hand.
I'm starting to find that my usual limit is at the porter level. Anything more and I'm not typically as big of a fan. My sweet spot is much more mellow than that, though.
Jess informs me we still have an unopened bottle of the Abyss. I guess its last years. Thats a good start to the weekend!
Harumph, I don't like barleywines
Damn, I usually have the Abyss release date in my calendar so I get to the stores before they sell out. I've got a 2009 at home, though, and will definitely be looking for the new release this evening.
If you're in SA, I used to get it from Central Market. I also bought it at Saglimbeni's one year I believe. I would call ahead, though, and make sure someone can put a bottle aside for you - I used to do that with Central Market when St Arnold's put their Divine Reserves out. I miss St Arnold's now that we're not in TX.
Beware low alcohol content!

I love the names here. Click on the link, they all look totally douchy.
Edit: check the comments too, a lot of people have been adding their own.

Just got back from my local boonies liquor store. Picked up two bottles of the 2010 Abyss to go with my leftover 2009 bottle I've been hoarding, a Black Butte (which they screwed up the price for, so I got it for $2.99), and a Sam Adams Vixen. My counter is very happy.
Edit: Just realized that I got two bottles of last year's vintage. This may be the only time it pays to live far away from beer snobs, as there were still a good 4-5 bottles of the 2010 left when I checked out earlier. Now I'm back on the hunt for 2011 - we're saving the 2009 and a 2010 so we can do a flight.

Goddammit. I'm lookin all over the D/FW for The Abyss, and continue to strike out.
Any locals have a suggestion?
They have some here in Santa Fe.![]()
The Abyss bottle also says best after 8/4/12. Guess this may be shelved in the back of my beer fridge with the Stoic:

My cellar has dwindled, sadly. Should be able to restock a bit in New Orleans in January, hopefully!

Just tried out the La Muerta at scotts place. Good stuff you're putting together over there.
