Personally I don't think the Transformer is really compe ion for the iPad. I think it would be an excellent lightweight work machine that could easily replace a laptop, while the iPad (to me) is much more of an entertainment machine. You can buy a keyboard case/dock for it, but it wasn't designed with that in mind.
That's the thing.... ANY tablet is an entertainment machine, but the TF adds the lightwork capabilities. (I have to say that the ASUS Supernote app is all that I could have ever desired in an app for in class note taking)

I dont get it Lee...i can do everything an Ipad2 can do in terms of entertainment.

Its simple...people who really arnt techies will buy the product all thier friends think is cool...and thats why apple sales are high. Eventually, word will come out that there are actually better items out there....its just gonna take a while.

    wow the misinformation

the Transformer can do everything the Ipad can do plus more.

the main difference is the Apps. itunes appstore is just a tad bit better in quality apps. But tbh, I was going through it on a friends ipad last week and Android market has really caught up to it. The advantage is almost non existent today. So again, that BS that Ipad is more entertainment machine is pure BS

You may be able to, but the iPad just does what it does very, very well and it is extremely easy to use. 2 years is a long time, and nothing has come close to it yet. I personally have no use for a tablet - I work at home, and my iPhone is plenty to get by with when I am not around my PC. But if I did get one it would be an iPad - I wouldn't really have to worry about anything but maybe buying some of the bunk "HD" editions of some games optimized for the larger screen, and all my videos are already in m4v. And a lot of people have iPhones already, so it is pretty tempting to just go with an iPad.

you should try the transformer. plug in your HDMI to your big screen TV and you can do EVERYTHING on your big screen. it's all out of the box. like you say you don't have to worry about anything.

iTunes ecosystem (if you purchase content), games. I meant I was not saying there is anything the iPad can do that an Android tablet can't.

I don't think anyone would try to argue that iTunes is by far the biggest online multimedia retailer. I don't have to try again?

I already had conceded that. Again difference is not much and won't be much as time goes by.

I respect your decision but I do not accept the statement "ipad is more of an entertainment machine than Transformer"

it depends where you decide to get your content. You could still purchase a movie from itunes and watch it on Transformer if you really wanted to.

I believe I said I saw it as more of an entertainment machine than the Transformer, not that it was absolutely. It certainly is marketed more as one from what I have seen. I think it would be a mistake for Asus to market the Tranformer the same way since the dock gives it so many more possibilities.

disagree. A tablet is a tablet. The Asus is a tablet that "transforms" into a laptop thus it has an advantage over other tablets.

if you think the transformer is not going for Apple's market, you need to open your eyes.

and I agree with the many ppl here that say Apple Ipad is #1 mostly due to marketing. It really is not "far superior" than it's compe ors.

I think ElNono debunked that fairly thoroughly.

Since it doesn't have 3G, can you use one of those USB dongles with it?

Edit: Looks like you can't, which kinda sucks.

So have both of you guys tried the Asus EeePad Transformer? Cuz It doesnt sound like Heath did. How bout you Resistanze?
I have indeed tried it, it's a neat little machine. My issue with Android tablets at this time has to do with the OS. It's not horrible but it's obvious it's still at the beginning stages. I expect when ICS comes out with Prime and more tablet specific/optimizaed apps come out I'll like it as much as I do Android for smartphones. I might even spoil myself with a Transformer Prime this christmas.

I doubt Android has drivers that would let it work.

    google is your friend:
If you purchase the Transformer with its keyboard dock, you will see there are some USB ports there and you are maybe wondering if you can using your 3G USB to connect to the Internet. I’ve tried a solution on XDA and the answer is Yes, you can.

Hardware-wise, probably. The Asus Transformer hardware wasn't bad to start with. But the hardware isn't fixing the software.
