The City of Riverside Spent $3500 on This Video to Lure an Apple Store
By Gary Ng on November 30th, 2011 6
If you have an Apple Store in your city, consider yourself lucky. Here in Vancouver, we have four locations (with a rumoured fifth location coming) for a population of roughly 578,000 people (just the city, not the entire GVRD). Each location is no more than 25 minutes away from the next. You can never have enough Apple Stores.
Riverside is the sixth largest city in California but they have one thing missing–an Apple Store. So what’s a city to do? Mayor Ron Loveridge and his City Council decided to spend $3500 to make a video showcasing the love they have for Apple products and how they would mutually benefit if Apple setup a retail shop there. There are three other Apple Stores nearby, but the closest is 40 kilometres (25 miles) away, clearly too far for Riverside.
Check out the video below–is Riverside worthy of an Apple Store (nice choice of Gary Glitter’s ‘The Hey Song’)?

now you need to be a developer to be able to tell if an OS if buggy
I really don't need this (as in I don't think I'd put a tablet to good use) but I want it! Might just make this an X-mas/B-day present for myself and call it a season.
Oh
Asians have always been fit
Japan = ed![]()
The Transformer Prime looks cool but to make it cool you need the keyboard dock which is $150 making the price point of a base model plus keyboard dock around $700 after taxes, might as well just get a decent laptop for that kind of money. It an entirely different product altogether. Not an Ipad compe or I.M.H.O.
ok keep telling yourself that![]()
WTF happened to Krispy Kreme in Canada?? There were a few that popped in the early 2000s around here in Toronto then they were gone.
I wanted diabetes![]()
You want diabete
Come to Montreal and get some poutine
You'll get diabetes in no time![]()
Unbelievably I've never been to Montreal. I passed by Montreal on my way to Bromont for a conference.
Next time my buddies were going for a road trip I had to stay in the lab during the weekend during grad school. I need some of that poutine with pork and chicken and horse etc.
I rarely use my keyboard....but I have it just in case. It was only $100.00
I use the keyboard when I need the extra juice or when I am typing an email/do ent. I just hate typing on the damn tablet screen. I wish swype was free for tablets.
Here are my main gripes about Android tablet:
- Stock Browser is pretty crappy when compared to a PC browser. (slow, buggy). I haven't found a 3rd party browser that supports flash and is superior yet.
actually that's it. everything else works like a charm. And about the Apps. there are TONS of tablet ready apps in the Android Market.
So it comes with Honeycomb...![]()
My complain wasn't about buggy. I touched on the issue earlier: Fairly few tablet-specific apps compared to the iPad.
Please a tablet laptop costs about $1000-$1500 and they are on a swivel too. A teacher would be able to use the Transformer for a class just as easy as a heavy ass tablet laptop, probably even easier. Another point for the Transformer.
and that's pretty much the only argument left that apple fanboys can hold on to.
if you really believe Android tablet apps won't catch up to Apple in the next few months you are blind as a bat.
not to mention next year Windows tablets are coming and boom. Game over.
btw, Here is some sound advice for you Nono. Before it's too late:
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has referred to Windows 8 as the riskiest product bet in the company's history, presumably because of the ramifications for Windows' popularity in the post-iPad, post-Android world. This week, Harris told developers at Build that the release is also the "single biggest developer opportunity in the history of the world" because of the sheer number of Windows PCs.
"Some of you are going to get rich," Harris said. "Some of you are going to build apps that are going to be used by hundreds of millions of people."
well thats pretty much what IPAD's and IPHONEs users use...."Apple has Better Apps."
I have free games that Apple charges for. I have every APP that i really need on my Android. I guess the downside is i had to wait for Hanging with Friends a few months after Apple released it .
Why just limit it to apple fanboys? It's true after all
Never claimed they won't catch up, BUT, there's a symbiosis as far as market share is concerned... choosing to develop for 70% or 30% of the market is a fairly easy decision.
Not hating, but Android does need to provide a better API to make it simpler to just rework the interface from phone->tablet, which is something Apple has done well in their SDK. I haven't looked at the ICS SDK yet, but if that's there, that's going to be the avenue.
That's this guy:
“You don’t need to be a computer scientist to use a Windows phone and you do to use and Android phone…It is hard for me to be excited about the Android phones.”

if developers did their homework, it should be fairly easy to port to a tablet layout. I don't see any issues here.
