14 mil seems fair. Players coming off a championship year always expect a bump in pay raise. That's one reason why its so hard keeping teams together.
This. No way you guys can expect him to take a cut. Sure he was overpaid last time (based on his health) ...sure he will be overpaid this time, based on being the 2nd most important piece to a le team. But like Lngrr says 14-15 over 4 should get the deal done. That is 56 or 60 million. If he says no to that with his history of injuries and limited post-game ...let him walk. But expecting him to take less is laughable. No way his agent let's that happen ...

Did someone in here say he should take a pay cut and I missed it? Because I certainly didn't say that. I know he's going to get more money. $20 mil/year is ludicrous.

Never said you said that ...I think both DPG and I are just basing it off of Marc stein's reporting of the Mav's intentions.

I agree $20 mill is ridiculous ... read above. Cully is the one who says "just pay him" ...

$12-14 mill sounds fine, but I wouldn't give him more. Given his history of injuries and his limited offensive game, $12-14 mill seems to be fair IMO. But not more. No way in he deserves $20 mill. That's ridiculous in every aspect. If he takes 12-14 mill, it's fine. Otherwise, let him walk.

Dont just ignore the rest of the post nlgga, I said his actual market value is probably in the 12-13 mill range...but his value in Dallas (relative to Brendas and Ericas contracts) is higher than that.

How about talking GUARANTEED money in those contracts? Thats all what matters, not the total numbers.

Dampier had 60/6 guaranteed and the last year was the dust.

Haywood has 41.5/5 guaranteed and the last year is a "Woodchip".

And btw Haywood isnt overpaid with 8.4 a year and for sure he isnt a scrub.
Ok, so Damp got 10 mill/yr and Brenda got 8.4/yr to back up Tyson... and you guys are expecting Chandler to be content with 12-13 mill after playing such a big role in a championship season? I wouldnt take any less than 16 if I was him either tbh.

It's not a ty contract IMO. If you don't think he'll ever be healthy again, sure, but his production for a big man warrants that 12M.

You think what DoK is doing to me via The Prediction is stiff & stern...just let the Mavs this up and permit Chandler to walk away. The Prediction will look like a in' Sunday School in' picnic compared to what I'll lay on these humps.

Also, I just read that the reason DAL might be holding out is because they are actively going after Chris Paul and are willing to trade without restrictions even if Paul says he won't sign an extension (they think they can convince him to stay).

It's especially weird to hear Dallas might have interest in CP since they have been shockingly quiet. Not going to happen, though.

It warrants 12-14, but for sure not 20.

Dallas is in no position to deal. How about bring back the team that won it, with addition of a healthy Butler and try to defend your le. A healthy Dallas is just as good as any team out there. You owe Tyson and JJ. Cuban was foolish to burn money on so many worthless players in the past, now he wants to play hardball with the guys that brought him a le. Other FA's will take note of that.
This team is too old to just remain the same. Butler. lol He wasn't a good fit when healthy. Unless he doesn't mind backing up Marion.

I would agree with this, except for the fact that Tyson and Butler both want way more money than they are worth.

The Mavs are going to have to start developing their youth this year, and hope they can make some sort of splash in FA before the deadline this year, or next offseason.

WTF? The Mavs were playing their best basketball of the season while Butler was still healthy (arguably even better than how they played in the playoffs, because of the defense and size he provided). After he and Dirk got hurt was when everything went to , and it pretty much took the entire rest of the season for everyone to figure out their roles, which fortunately they got down just in time for the playoffs.

Thats not the point. Im just saying I can understand where Chandler is coming from with his high demands...Id feel slighted too if Cuban was willing to dish out two previous ty contracts to two ty bigmen, and then simply want to pay me market value after being the anchor on defense of a championship team. Chandler deserves to get overpaid, maybe not 20.7 mill per, but I wouldnt take any less than 16 if I was him.
