Sen. Susan Collins on Wednesday blasted the Defense Department for classifying the Fort Hood massacre as workplace violence and suggested political correctness is being placed above the security of the nation's Armed Forces at home.
During a joint session of the Senate and House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, the Maine Republican referenced a letter from the Defense Department depicting the Fort Hood shootings as workplace violence. She criticized the Obama administration for failing to identify the threat as radical Islam.

I would take this with a grain of salt without the context of having the entire letter, and understanidng the intent/purpose.
Quite frankly this seems to fit the "manufactured outrage" mold from Fox News, and I am not comfortable at all accepting some politicians interpretation of anything.
They were reporting on a congressional hearing. Doesn't look to me like the outrage was manufactured at Fox but it is interesting that no other mainstream media outlet covered it.
there's plenty of coverage of the report. it may not be slanted just how you like, but the MSM covered it.
sorry, you said hearings. my bad.
not all congressional bloviation is newsworthy. just keep blowing that dog whistle.
True
but I am personally glad that we have Fox as a counterbalance to CBS/NBC/ABC/MSNBC/CNN etc.
Now all the bloviation gets reported and not just the bloviation that advance the progressive agenda.
This way WE get to decide what we choose to believe.
Have you actually read the letter in question?
No, but I trust that Senator Collins has.
That absolutely aligns with the militarys previous position on denying the killed and wounded at Ft. Hood purple hearts.
If they had been in Kabul ,and a terrorist had opened fire on them killing and wounding them they would all get purple hearts.
When a terrorist at Fort Hood sprays them with bullets they don't.
It's just not politically palatable to call Hasan a terrorist, despite the fact that he yelled allahu akbar as he opened fire...
Those folks didn't die for their country, they died for politically correct diversity...
bull . they were killed by a kook.
It was manufactured at the hearing and distributed by Fox News and eagerly consumed by you.
whether you call it terrorism or not doesn't amount to very much
Yeah, I think more than a few descriptors can be used.
Well, it did happen where he works...no?
DOD knows that to call this anything other than an American Soldier committing a crime on a US military base means no more military court and no more court martial. We've got the guy tried and convictied let's keep it that way. If that means using terms like "work place violence" instead of "war crime" or "act of terrorism" to keep him out of a federal court room so be it until he's 6 foot under.
