Eh, I think that's good news for the Spurs. That's too much money for an iffy fit.

8 million is quite a bit over the threshold.
Weird... I'm pretty sure I made this post in another thread... did timvp move it?
lol @ caron calling the spurs "Frontrunners" to get that extra 1million/year from the Clipps
just doing what a FA is supposed to do, savvy move
lol frontrunners...again.
extra 3million/year to be fair to him.
Same thing with the Bulls ... he was just playing the system.
If you haven't already read them, take a gander at Bill Simmons' articles on the impending FA period: http://www.grantland.com/columnists/billsimmons
Some of it is BS and hyperbole of course, but there's nuggets of gold in there too. And I think his general thesis, that we're just about to witness a massive gorge of terrible contracts (wasn't the idea behind the lockout to reduce this in the future?), is spot on.
I think the clippers initial offer was 7million/year for a total of 21 million.
Looks like they sweetened it to 24 million after Caron visited the Spurs.
The Clippers could be a better team than the Spurs over the next three years, too. That's the thing here that most don't want to admit.
Not surprising. I didn't think he could pass up the extra cash the Clips were offering.
'Eh, no way the Spurs were going to compete with that money. No big loss, though I wonder where the team is going to be headed now. I still think they should try to trade Parker to the Clippers for their Minnesota pick and Jordan and blow it up unless they can make a bigtime move for an elite defender who can guard both the 4 and 5.
The Clippers have never been a better team than the Spurs.
theyll find a way to screw it up.
Anytime the SPURS are mentioned in TRADE TALK or Signing a free agent of note and it gets to the papers it never happens... Why should this have been any different..
Spurs thought they had Maggette until the Clipps overpaid him. How did that work out for both teams?
Spurs will likely have to settle for a lower-cost, lower profile SF.
thank god....
Ya, not to sad over this lack of signing and agree that a player like Evans or Moon for the min. may be on the way...
