well Paul might go Independent if he loses GOP. And why not, Huntsman could be his VP. Why not.
or another interesting scenario Paul Sr. - Paul Jr. duo. Paul Paul 2012
Though it would be wise of me to wait until after the Donald Trump debate, I'm going to come out and say it now:
Paul/Huntsman or Huntsman/Paul would not only be the best ticket for the GOP, it would probably be the best ticket for America.
Paul brings his fair share of wacky ideas to the table, but I admire a man willing to stand up in front of a crowd of people he is trying to win over and risk being booed off-stage because he refuses to pander to them.
Part of my problem with the way Washington is run today is that we elect new people because we didn't like the way the old ones were doing things, but then the new guys fall into the same political game the old guys did. Freshman legislators who stand up for the things that won our votes get a bad reputation and essentially blackballed by the established vets. Ron Paul has proven he isn't going to play those games.
I can look past the inane notion of wanting to disband the fed and go to a gold standard because its not something that would ever happen. And while Paul's crazy ideas are indeed crazy, his sane ideas are better than those of anyone else!
The one exception to that last statement might be Jon Huntsman, currently polling second amongst Mormons. What staunch conservatives point to a weakness (the fact he served as ambassador to China under Obama) is a plus to the rest of us who don't care about Donkeys or Elephants. A guy willing to play with the other side to do what's best for country? Wow, this "country first" concept is neat!
So there is the "correct" ticket, but of course we'll end up with Gingrich/Romney or something of the like... and of course, you know Palin is still not completely out of this thing.

If Gary Busey won't run, then Paul provides the minimum recommended amount of bat- crazy .
I do like how he sincerely could care less tho!
given that Obama, Gingrich, Romney = Wall street Candidates. I pick bat crazy guy
I don't care if he wins or not but the narrative that Paul would bring to this country during the campaign would be a good thing. Quite frankly Paul and his party --lets be honest, he is only running GOP because he has to-- deserves a voice at the national stage.
"Paul would bring to this country during the campaign would be a good thing"
nobody pays him any attention
l
Doesn't seem to slow you down![]()
I wonder how many pet projects and appropriations Paul has refused to take back to his district because the US is broke.....mmmmmmmmmmmm....
none........
Ron Paul would be bad the Country, IMHO. If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times, Huntsman is the best GOP candidate in the field. I wouldn't chose Paul as my VP for that would crush any chances of the POTUS.
The GOP is way to far right of John Huntsman.....the influence of the tea party is waning...the Occupy movement will be the driving force in the 2012 election and beyond and they are looking for politicians, republican and democrat, who vote for the people and against corporate person-hood...
So the republicans need to
either nominate a rhino or libertarian? lol thanks for the advice.
Lol the occupy movement? Do you honestly think the occupers have any kind of political pull? The tea partiers and occupy are completely different! TP had a exact focus. They did it while helping to increase jobs in their community and did not move to some obscure voting district. OWS are a bunch of clowns.
Which leads me to wonder if there could ever be a 'right ticket' for the GOP....I guess Ron Paul would be the candidate with views most closely resembling Occupy 's goals, better jobs, more equal distribution of income, bank reform, and a reduction of the influence of corporations on politics....but that is not where the GOP is right now.....there is no fiscal conservative candidate who can also rally the wing-nuttery base..
Unless that happens, its game over.
The right ticket would be any of these guys running and Gov. Christie as VP
I think pundits are just starting to notice the influence that Occupy will have in 2012, there is no greater driving force....look around....the GOP is headed in the wrong direction...while the rest of the country wants to go left, including the majority of independents, the GOP still wants to go right....
....put down the red-colored glasses...the GOP is headed for a massacre unless they change their message...
You mistake me for someone that distinguishes something in the legitimacy of either party to lead this government. I care about this country and not about your team
Paul talks about different than the normal rhetoric which if you look over the past 30 years, has not changed very much. Most people just get pulled along with whatever narrative their team puts out there. I think that we need some new voices.
Paul is nothing if not that and although I think his opinion on solutions are generally untenable i do believe that issues like liberty or monetary and military policy ie how we do things needs to be discussed.
Paul would force the issue and no other candidate has the ball sack to do it.
Having a campaign that is not about touchy-feely bull like hope and solidarity or security and faith would do this country a whole of a lot of good.
Wanna save the GOP? switch to a 'ron paul' type party....
RIchard Nixon used to pay actors to be bums and hippies and go campaign for democrats and now these guys are doing it for free. I honestly don't seeing this helping them as far as the swing state areas like the PA T and southern Ohio.
You don't think people are feeling pinched by both parties in swing states? Seriously? ...the GOP better find its new message, or they will lose swing states big time...if only because some democrats are already making the switch and siding with Occupy....and very, very few Republicans are starting to see the big picture....
Lol Yeah sure.
He really does....
What message do they need to change? HonestlyDems won 08 on "We aren't Bush". I think swing state voters pretty much have their mind made up if they are giving Obama another chance. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm in a military comunity surrounded by guys who haven't gotten a raise worth a damn in years. Not to mention all the government places we have to go to ( ID, MWR, etc) that are understaff due to budget cuts.
The underlying theme of the Occupy movement cuts across both parties, that's the beauty in the Occupy movement approach, they can win in both blue and red states as long as you speak a mean anti-establishment, anti-wall street, anti-corporate person hood game....start with a cons utional amendment that overturns that....
Even FAUX News viewers get this one right...
you hear that train a coming?
Sing it...
