I am going to say yes after that performance. I know everyone wants to say Anderson but lets look at this..

Jones is the champ in the toughest division in MMA at 205. He took the belt violently from Shogun a former Pride legend, then thrashed Page another Pride legend who was motivated and in awesome shape. Machida a former champ with a killer resume. That is 3 finishes in a row againt the best of the best and is the top of the heap in the very best division in all of MMA..

Who, at any weight class, could stop Jones? I'm serious, who? I don't think anyone, with the exception of Frank Mir (because he's a ing God), could beat Jones right now.

    I hate him, but damn...

    p4p, unfortunately yes

but I'd still take the top of the HW over him if they fought: JDS, Cain, and yes even Lesnar and Carwin (don't know enough about Overeem tbh)

Now when GSP is out of fighting for more then a year, there is nobody else that you can say is better then Jones.

And btw. the toughest division is 155 !

no. espn has GSP, Edgar, and silva all ahead of jones. silva has been undefeated and the champ for 5 years and is 14-0 in the UFC. Jones' time will come, but until silva loses he will remain p4p and the GOAT

I think you have to look at Strength of compe ion. He has beatdown Shogun, Rampage and Machida. His next fight is likely Rashad. Nobody in MMA is fighting that level of foes, fight after fight. Not Silva, not anybody. If Jones beats Shad and finishes him, i can't see how anyone can say he is not number 1 pound for pound. Silva in that time-frame may fight Sonnen again and even if he wins, Sonnen is not Shad or Rampage or Machida..

I see what you are saying but i just believe the right to claim p4p is for silva to lose. you cant really penalize him for beating everyone the UFC has put in front of him. Jones is on the greatest one year tear in the sports history, but silva is 14-0 in the world's premier organization and has held his belt for 5 years. I just think until he loses that he has earned the right to that claim.

ESPN article on a silva-jones fight...

This is why a superfight between Jones and Silva should at least be discussed. You have the definitive No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world in Silva, who has never lost in the UFC, against a 24-year-old phenom who lay waste to the 205-pound division in 2011.

If Jones beats Shad and Silva makes his next defense the UFC should push to make that fight happen. Silva is 37 and if this does not happen in the next year or so, it may be too late.. That's the superfight of superfights..

And i know that Henderson wants Jones but he brings nothing more to the table than Rampage did.. After Shad the UFC should have only one thing on their mind

    Jones VS Anderson..

Whats strange is how people dont mention JDS in any pound for pound conversation... or any heavyweight for that matter. Not just here.. but writers aswell.

Has JDS ever not looked dominant? or lost a round? At least Machida and Bonnar won rounds against Jones.. i dont think anyone has done that so against JDS. I would say he is probably in the top 3 with Bones and Anderson after beating Cain the way he did.

He did not defend his le yet. That's the main reason IMO. If Cain KO'ed JDS he would be in top 3 conversation

I don't think Silva wants any part of Bones. He would get destroyed and he probably knows it. Hendo has at least a puncher's chance. That's the only way Jones would ever lose, somebody gets lucky and lands a big shot to his chin.

Yeah its the big hit that's going to take down Jones. Jones's wrestling is pretty damn good. I mean , the dude got to college through a wrestling scholarship.

Silva has a greater "puncher's chance" than anyone in the sport name me someone who is as lethal on the feet and Creepn you do realize probably 60-70 percent of the guys in the UFC went to college on a wrestling scholarship?
