all you Bones fans are the biggest bunch of ing knobslobbers. Did we see the same fight? Jones looked like a complete amateur standing with Machida. If he had ANY sense at all he would've taken the fight to the ground after 3 minutes in the first. But no, he wanted to show off his completely useless spinning kicks 50 times before getting lucky in the 2nd with some lazy straight
not saying it wasn't a legit win, but you can't be so blind you didn't see that Jones is still a novice open striker
Lyoto's gameplan and aggression were outstanding, but it turns out Jones has a chin and the god-given arm length to keep a safe distance if he's concerned. Even then Lyoto still dug in, fascinating fight. Silva vs Jones has to happen at some point, it's almost criminal not to...1 more defense for both, then do it.
Mir is amazing at taking a beating then finding a sub, against the modern BJJ godfather at that.

I already believed Silva would demolish Bones on the feet but after tonight I think Silva would make Bones look silly. Unfortunately by then Bones would probably have the sense to take his fights to the ground earlier and therefore Bones wins hands down

Bones will beat Silva. The guy is young, stronger, and more motivated than Silva. He'll know that beating Silva will silence EVERYTHING.

I just watched the full fight... Lyoto was making Jones look fairly ordinary on the feet... he was winning comfortably by staying away at a distance and then exploding in and tagging Jones almost every time. But the wrestling was the difference as everyone knew it would be... then when Jones takes you down you have those vicious elbows coming down on you all it took was one elbow to Lyoto up.. and that threw him off and Jones got the choke.
In the UFC.. great wrestling and average standup >>> great standup and average wrestling.. almost always the case. Jones wont be beaten unless a great wrestler comes along with great standup and a good ground game. Who has that? Phil Davis can maybe come close to him athletically and wrestling wise but even they arent at Jones level.. but he has equally average standup like Jones.
I think Rashad can KO Jones if Jones is dumb enough to stand with him..but Jones will probably just take him down and drop elbows on him until he needs plastic surgery.
Lyoto fought a great fight.. he just came up against a freak athlete with elbows like long sharp knifes and great wrestling... not much you can do once Jones realises hes going to take you down and your face up with elbows.

also Silva and Jones doesnt need to happen, neither does GSP vs Silva. It would be great for one time ratings but awful for the divisions. Jones is a huge LHW and could be at HW. I dont see the need to match them up. There is no debate.. each one is the best in their class. Jones would beat Silva (unless he tries to stand) by size just like JDS would beat Jones if he were to move up. Silva is the most skilled fighter in the history of the sport and having him move up to lose to Jones would change nothing.
So...the guy who is champion of the weakest division of MMA is also the most skilled fighter in the history of the sport? The MMAth on that one doesn't make sense. If Silva could beat Jones, that proves he is the best P4P...but he's just been beating cans (including lazy Forrest) since he beat Hendo. Most people realize it too, that's why even tho people talk about Jones they know he's the premier fighter in the sport after GSP...Silva is falling off and should just move to LHW for good, even without a Chael re-match.

He's actually not too bad of a striker. The beginning of the end for Machida is when Bones beat him to the punch as they both threw strikes.
Jones is a great striker. He made Page and Shogun look bad for god's sake.. Machida is awkward and was landing in round 1. Once Jones got pissed and used his grappling that was all she wrote..
White hints at GSP or Jones farewell for Anderson Silva
Dana White has hinted that he would like Anderson Silva's final fight to be against either Jon Jones or Georges St-Pierre.
Silva is widely recognised to be heading into the final fights of his career, with speculation over whether he has two, four or even more bouts left in his tank.
At 37 years of age, Silva is expected to retire by White after another couple of middleweight le defences. After that, the UFC president speculates that maybe the Brazilian could go out on a super fight, either against the welterweight king or the light-heavyweight ruler.
"He's probably the greatest fighter in history," said White to AFLA. "I think he has two more le defences and I [don't] know what's next, if he will retire.
"He could end his career with a super fight against Jon Jones or Georges St-Pierre. That would make me very rich. Then he could take a boat and sail into the sunset."
