Good signing by LA. More security for when they throw Gasol and Bynum at Orlando for Howard.

Son of a . Lakers got a halfway decent Odom replacement for the mini-mid... we got nothing.
2 year, $6 million for McRoberts is a pretty fair deal.
Still wondering how Bonner was able con $14 million out of the Spurs the last time he was a free agent.
after hearing kwame's deal this one is a of a bargain...
McRoberts and his deal are an absolute steal.
I don't normally bash the Spurs when there are FAs they don't get, but this time they are going to wish they had McRoberts. Maybe it wouldn't have mattered if the Spurs tried for him because of the appeal of LA (no media reports that they did, but maybe behind the scenes they tried).
But if it would have taken an amnesty on RJ to get the full MLE to do it, they should have. He's not that great, but he is a hustle machine with legit range who has improved every year in the pros, this guy was facing off against Mahinmi in the D-League finals if I remember right.
Kwame Brown now is making 7 for a year. The Celtics gave Chris Wilcox a one year 3 million deal with their entire mini-MLE. McRoberts is prime value compared to Wilcox.
reports of josh howard meeting with the jazz. spurs might even strike out with howard..
Downstairs someone said that the Clippers will have to amnesty either Mo Williams or Kaman to have enough space to match DeAndre Jordan's contract. Obviously Kaman becomes a target if he's amnestied (perhaps the Spurs amnesty RJ and offer Kaman the full $5M midlevel), but what about Mo? LLE? He'd be a of a lot better than TJ Ford.
Hard to say when we don't know what either team is offering. Utah could have a better offer on the table and from what the Spurs reportedly offered Caron, they didn't really strike out with him either. They had no chance.
i think only teams under the cap can bid on amnestied players.
IMO even if kaman is amnestied, teams with capspace have to pass on him so that he can become a UFA and then only we can claim him
Mo Williams was already amnestied.
This sucks! This was a guy that the Spurs should've gone after - someone who could've helped bolster their awful frontline. Meanwhile, they're still screwing around with the Josh Howard's of the world.
to be fair, I've seen Pacer forum posters writing that Memphis offered McRoberts more than LA and that he just chose LA for whatever reason (minutes, fame, etc).\
It might not have made any difference if the Spurs tried hard to get him. But it's nice to dream about a guy who could play with both Duncan and Splitter and spread the floor some.
I should've known. I had heard Memphis was after him too. I didn't know that he deliberately chose L.A.
Spurs are trying to get character guys and Josh Howard fits that description.
A lot of greybeards here thought McRoberts didn't even deserve a 2nd round draft pick.

Done deal: Mavs agree to send Rudy F and Brewer to Denver for future second-rounder, according to sources with knowledge of trade
Wow. Really Dallas? What a waste.
And there goes more money that can't be used to claim RJ.ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein

smh
We might as well just face facts.
RJ will be back.
Moving through the stages to acceptance. Probably good for our mental health.
Not really. They're going to get two more trade exceptions out of the deal (or is it one big one?), so they can turn around and absorb another contract or two like Odom that nobody wants.
Ah. Heard nothing about trade exceptions, just that they got the both of them for a second-round pick. Still, Denver got a real steal.
I wonder if playing 170 total minutes for Dallas is what Corey Brewer was hoping for when he signed there.
Then again, he got a ring (or will when Cuban stops dragging his ass), so I'm sure he isn't ing.
