Curious to see if he can re-invent his later career from draft bust to serviceable big like Joe Smith did. He had a solid year in CHA and is a beast defending posting bigs.

Would be an underrated pickup if the Spurs could get him on the cheap, his offensive game is terrible and he has terrible hands but like ChuckD said he is a good post defender, and would help against the likes of L.A.

agree. he played for a minimum contract last season, for that kind of money he delivered a decent season. if he is willing to sign a minimum contract, he would be a good option to get some more size and athleticism. especially if Dice retires, our frontcourt will need some more defensive potential.

I also believe the "terrible hands" characteristic is more a reflection of his younger days, and not indicative of the older journeyman player. Here are some numbers for different defensive-minded centers around the league in the turnovers per 48 minutes category last season:

    Kwame: 1.9
    Chuck Hayes: 2.0
    Tyson Chandler: 2.1
    Dalembert: 3.3
    DeAndre Jordan: 2.4
    Kurt Thomas: 1.7
    Aaron Gray: 2.9
    Marcin Gortat: 1.9
    Kendrick Perkins: 3.6

    He'd definitely be a nice pick-up.

Miami are after him and can offer him $1.9m. More likely though, Charlotte offer him something nicer. But we might still have a chance for the $3m small-MLE.

I think he could make a difference on a team like Miami or Boston. Hate to say it, but Popovich is probably not the coach for him. He blossomed under Paul Silas last year, whose persona is more gentle giant than screaming drill sargeant.

Why? Are they trying to sign every draft bust underachieving center out there? They've already signed Eddy Curry.

Kwame is a better defender right now than any big on the Spurs not named Duncan and it's not even close.

    Wow, $7 million???

He'd be a nice bench player at the minimum, but I'd rather have Bonner than pay Brown that kind of money.

Looks like a one season cap filler. They must be wanting to play the FA game in the summer of 2012.

He is also quite possibly the worst offensive player in the NBA over 6'10".

That's not even remotely true... Kendrick Perkins, Andris Biedrins, Jeff Foster, Zaza Pachulia, Fesenko, Diop, etc... He's not a scoring machine, but he's certainly not the worst either.
