Come on, bro, you know it doesn't work like that. The other free agent minimum PGs will be gone by the "Oops, TJ does suck" moment. The world doesn't pause to allow the Spurs to try him out.
Are you kidding? You really think that an equivalent suck level of PG that is the current FA PG pool won't be available? There are trades, players shaking loose....

Point is this group is so bad that you aren't missing out on anything that you can't find in the d-league basically. It's that bad.

Damn, lefty, in 15 years worth of posting the best you could find was a joke about Bogut and a true statement about Bonner? (Bonner has been a "nice addition" for a throw-in salary filler. And he has been a Spur for a long time. The problems with Bonner are A. The Spurs turned down Scola because of him B. Pop plays him too much C. Pop trusts him too much D. Pop pays him too much.)

If you are looking for timvp mistakes I suggest looking for how he thought signing Jackie Butler was a good thing, how he thought the RJ trade was a good one, how he thought Buckets was going to be waived in 2002 preseason, how he thought Greg Sutton had a shot to be a stud, among others.

The previous year, the Pacers were 19-16 in games TJ Ford didn't play and 13-34 in games he did play. What was the excuse that year?

You're kidding, right? You're better than that. Did you even bother to notice that a whole lot of those losses were games they played without Danny Granger? Somehow I think the losses had more to do with Granger being out, than Ford being in.

How about this: Last season, the Spurs were 51-12 with DaJuan Blair as a starter, and 12-13 the rest of the way, without Blair as a starter. Doesn't that prove that the reason their record went to was because Pop took Blair out of the starting rotation? If they would have just kept him in there, they would have kept up their .800 pace through the playoffs and won another le?

The Pacers were a team when Ford got there, with a coach whose teams have only been above .500 in 3 of his 9 seasons coaching. The system he put in place in Indy was only slightly worse than the average high school team. I don't think Ford is a top-tier NBA point guard, but you can hardly judge his ability by the success/failure of that Pacers team. It was an organization in total disarray.

I'm happy to have TJ Ford, he's a solid backup.

You guys are seriously lame. What kind of back up PG do you want, the corpse of Speedy Claxton? TJ is a vet, talented, wants to be here, and is a spark off the bench.

If him playing 20 mpg causes us to lose more games, then that's on Pop. Because having an experienced semi-distributor in Ford is damn better than a lot of options out there for a BACKUP. LOL Bibby. LOL Telfair. LOL having to overpay for Barea.

At least now we can focus our attention on bigs and SF

Hey I remember when Speedy Claxton scored 44 points in a game 7 of the NBA Finals. He also had 11 assists and knocked up three Silver Dancers during timeouts.

TJ Ford is a rabbit out of a hat.

I think Pop wants the G-Hill role from TJ off the bench.

And he's a much better fit for it. After 6 years of Vaughn Mase and Hill spurfan (and Pop) has forgotten what a decent back up PG is. I expect we'll know the difference immediately.

Dude is a huge ball hog. People saying otherwise are either delusional or have never seen him play.
That's pretty comical that a guy who can't shoot would have the audacity to be a ball-hogger. What's his deal?

TJ Ford looked absolutely awful when he was playing with Zagreb this year.

The guy has zero basketball IQ and just plays 100% pure street ball every time he touches the ball. The Spurs are getting super desperate if they sign him.
Now I feel really good about this signing.

KBP's idea of ball hogging is apparently bringing the ball up the floor.

It was game 6; no way Speedy was going to let the Nets force a seventh.

Mentioned earlier in the thread that I didn't like the idea. But after it became official I looked at his profile and hes only 28... that was surprising to me since it seems like hes been around for awhile and should be at least 32 lol. But at the age of 28, hopefully hes still got his trademark speed and effectively spell Parker rest time.

I wasn't open to him before but now that hes on the team I'm going to be optimistic and hope that his strengths shine more than his faults.
