I don't see a useful big we can get for the MLE. If that problem is to be addressed this season, it will have to be via a trade.
We need a big, goddammit... don't do this to me... not you, Mel![]()

Yup. I've been saying the bit about playing the kids since before FA period started, yet no-one agreed with me... now everyone agrees with you!
Like the idea of Chandler, and Mo is a nice vet. What are we going to do about landing another big tho?
Who didn't agree with you? I've mentioned it as long as I've been back and there's lots of agreement every time I do.
Far as a big, no clue. Probably going to be a training camp cut that the Spurs can pick up. Clearly the Spurs don't have the effin' stones to amnesty RJ like they should.
Without signing a wing, I doubt the Spurs amnesty RJ. That's the main reason I hope J-Ho happens. RJ needs to be amnestied and J-Ho would be a cheap way to make him go away. Plus J-Ho, even at his best, is a situational player ... which would allow for roles for the young guns.
I think RJ's on-court cowardness will allow for roles for the young guys.
There's really no one left. We should just move on.
*clears throat*I think the larger point is, Pop says he's going in with an open mind. If Leonard deserves a spot, he will -- even if he's just 20.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.......... ...............................................
I'll believe it when I see it.
Last time RJ's on-court cowardness got him a $40 million contract.
If it were any other team, besides the Spurs, that would be a funny factoid. It's actually a very sad.
NBA TV crawl says Rip Hamilton was waived by Pistons.
He's going to Chicago.
Seems like a lot of people wanted a veteran SF, although no-one specifically disagreed with me. GLad we're on the same page!
Ah-ha! Was wondering why you were so committed to it.
You're probably right that Pop won't allow them to amnesty RJ without a vet around (which is utterly ridiculous, but there you go, that's Pop on vets vs youth). I still respect Pop as a coach, except for his stubborness when it comes to youth.
They absolutely should amnesty RJ and play the youth. Why can we see it when they can't?
PS Any of you guys wanna play my h2h league, the Bruce Bowen? Go sign up if so!
why not trade RJ and Mcdyess to utah for Al Jefferson??
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMa...radeId=868mbur
Sorry if mentioned before....
Also, espy has tj ford listed at a salary of 8.5 million??? was thinking more of 850k
"there's a chance the team's true ideas could be to start Okur at center with Al Jefferson at power forward and Paul Millsap at small forward. The team is currently rumored to be exploring trades for Millsap and Jefferson, so there could be plenty of minutes for Okur this season. It's a situation that demands attention."
listed in Okur's bio page on espn, http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/1014/mehmet-okur, under spin.

Well, then, get it done!
I'm still interested in Al Jefferson. Any chance Utah would take RJ and filler?
I know he's not the defensive big we need, but the trade off for his scoring ability in the post would be worth it. It'd be hard to double team Tim and Al, as that would give our guards plenty of room to run wild.
Some idiot on another Spurs board told me last year I had a knee jerk reaction when I said Jefferson over Bonner, thats how stupid some are man lol. I agree fully with you there.
Utah might move Al Jefferson one of these days, but I see no way in they'd do it just to pay RJ 10 million a year for 3 years unless Kevin O'Connor contracted mad cow disease.
There was one team stupid enough to trade for RJ's contract, and they were so blitheringly idiotic that they turned around and paid him even more money. If any team is so stupid to trade for his NEW contract 3 years later should be contracted.
Who is Utah's starting SF right now? Hopefully Kirilenko doesn't come back and they strike out on Josh Howard, then get desperate and take RJ off our hands. LOL why do you have to suck so bad RJ.
Spurs should have let that expire and let him be, but noooooooooooo they resigned him longer and resigned BONNNER LONGGERRRR! Who sees talent in bums here to sign them longer term? SPURS FO got alot of credit I know and were praised, but the moves past Tims prime, Manus prime and so on prove they were the basis! Spurs used to make key little moves and keep a team afloat around HOF players, since they faded out some MY GOD they HAVE BEEN GOD F IN AWFUL.
If they want AK back (and if he wants to return to the NBA) they can probably get him at most at the same price point RJ is at if not cheaper, and he's a lot better than RJ. RJ is just bad.
Right now who they start is a toss-up, but I could have missed any announcements that have come since camp opened. Could be Hayward with Burks at the SG. Could be CJ Miles starting at SF with Raja Bell's remains starting at the two.
lol those options are all better than RJ.
Looks like DeShawn Stevenson may be had for the minimum. If that's true, he wouldn't be a bad signing ... better than Mo Evans, for one.
He's like a homeless man's Stephen Jackson but not quite a crazy. He played pretty good defense on Kobe, Durant and LeBron last year in the playoffs and only shoots threes on offense, so there's a fit. Small for a SF, injury prone, streaky shooter, etc ... but for less than $2M it wouldn't be a bad thing.
I would be ok with that move, as long as Leonard/Anderson still get the majority of the minutes to develop.
