Looks like he's really trimmed down. Be interesting to see how it affects his play.

I think this helps in weakside rotations ...

I think this hurts when banging ZBO and Marc Gasol ...

Sure it looks like he gained some muscle but his "mass" was key to some of his post defense you could not "root" him out ...we will see if that changes ...

Good call House. That would also explain him getting lighter in color.

Being thin didn't hurt Rodman. he was able to bang big time in the post and his quickness was key to the rounding

Did it to preserve longevity, I'd imagine, since his knees have already been operated on. Probably best to give a little inside position vs. a handful of bigs and player a few extra years.

Still, he looks like he's lost more than 30+ pounds. More like 50.

perkins isn't "thin." i read in the yahoo article that he is now 262 lbs. That's the perfect weight for a center.

My guess is he's lost 30+ pounds from his previously reported weight, which was probably 15-20 pounds lighter than his actual weight. He doesn't look slimmed down. He looks completely different. I think he easily lost 50 pounds. I think for Perkins to be best effective he should be around 275-280. I think he should add back about half of what he says he lost.

Plenty of C in the NBA are 275-range.

i reread the yahoo article and perkins is actually 267 lbs at the start of training camp. compare that to other centers howard is listed at 265, marc gasol at 265, nene at 250, okafor at 255, duncan at 255 and horford at 246. there aren't many starting centers that are heavier than perkins' current weight. bynum might be one but that's all i can think of.

if perkins looks that thin and still outweighs the majority of all starting centers, than all those pounds might be muscle mass which makes it even more ridiculous.
