So what're they gonna do with 4 point guards now: Paul, Williams, Billups, and Bledsoe lol
This is a very good point. Paul is a great PG, while the other 3 are very good. Some trades have to be made, unless you're going to have some disgruntled players.

Bledsoe's out for most of the season. Billups will get minutes at the two.

Gordon is good, no doubt, but I doubt many people actually saw him play in his games last year on a nightly basis. Most are speaking as though he had no flaws.

eric gordon is good but when you can get the best point guard in the league back, you do it. you are trading a potentially all star shooting guard for the best point guard. the draft pick, aminu, and kaman won't be necessary with the current roster. you have to remember the clippers were perpetually in "rebuilding mode." they saw an opportunity and took it. if they didn't do this, they risked gordon, griffin, bledsoe, and aminu leaving the team down the road.

paul has agreed to stay on his contract for another year so that gives the clippers two years to convince paul to stay. and if they convince paul to stay, they will for sure convince griffin to stay when his contract is up, and start attracting some FA's. so it's kind of like a snowball effect.
I can see that logic, I'm just not sure Paul's knee will hold up long term, and I'd like to have seen him extend more than one year.

It's not disastrous, but I thought the Faker trade landed NO more, and that the original Clips trade was fair. Strange the Clips held onto Bledsoe.

You might be the only person in the world besides Laker fan who thinks this is a bad deal. Nothing is guaranteed. In the NBA, the opportunities are rare to land a top 2 player at his position. When you get said chance, you take it if you want any shot at being relevant.

Billups is done. This trade makes them better than standing pat and at least gives them hope of a serious future. It was time for them to make a move and they did it. The only basketball asset with regards to winning now they gave up for Paul was Gordon. Paul for Gordon is an amazing tradeoff. Losing a basketball asset like Gordon, but gaining Paul/Butler/Billups is a very good trade off and those picks wouldn't likely bring you anyone better than Paul. It was a pretty damn good deal for all involved which is rare.
Yeah, I see all that, but I know some Clips fans who aren't happy either.

Paul's knee is a real worry.

Anyway, they took a chance and it will be fun to see what happens.

A great deal for both teams. Much much better for the Hornets than the Lakers/Houston one.

Not really. The Laker/Houston trade made them much more compe ive today. The Clippers trade has the POSSIBILITY to be stronger years from now.

Clippers trade is a lot better. It's not even close

what's hilarious is that after this season if the original lakers no trade went through the Hornets would only have 2 players on their roster from the deal. Scola and Martin, because money wise there's no way they could justify odom's option. And somehow the lakers deal was better

I don't like that trade for the Clippers tbh. I think they were butt ed again...
I liked their team before the trade better...could have just played the season, let Kaman expire and try getting CP3 or Deron in FA. They would have that Minny pick that would net them another stud and could become the new OKC with a competent GM like Presti...

Now to look like an actual team that could do some damage they'd need OJ Mayo/Afflalo at SG and Pachulia/Mohammed at C...with only Jordan at C and no SG this is a first round exit in 5 imho.

Although they now have two superstars I like the Memphis Grizzlies way more even though they don't have a superstar and think they would curbstomp them in the playoffs if they meet...

    Oh well it's the Clippers...

clippers lost both gorden & the pick to acquire the little nig who isn't going to re-sign, its like they traded the whole thing for only half a year's service of paul and when n!gga actually walks as he's supposed to do, the clippers are ed

that fat old son of a stern never loses imho

That's what usually happens when you try to make business with a jew. Ask Hitler. Even when the whole world was hunting them down like rats, they still came out winners, owning a brand new country. (no racist, just sayin tbh)

Gordon has some injuries history too.

All in all I think it's a good trade for both team. Clipps gave up a 2012 first round but they already won the jackpot with Griffin, they cannot live forever by stacking prospects, I agree with DPG they needed to go to the next step.

For the Hornets it is very good too, they have a lot of draft picks to build on and Gordon is an amazing guard.

I do hope now everybody will stay healthy gordon, cp3, griffin because its going to be fun to watch the clipps and the 2012 hornets.

and it is also good for the league

Upon further reflection, I think this was a franchise-changing trade that had to be done. It has risks, but they're worth taking for the possible upside. My initial reaction was wrong.

This is a great example of why one shouldn't rush to judgement.

The Clippers definitely got the better end of the trade; you always trade four quarters for a dollar in the NBA. Still, they were in a real position of power over the Hornets which they could have used to rape New Orleans by not including Gordon. Paul wasn't going to go anywhere else and New Orleans would eventually have had to take the offer minus Gordon.
