Social media users widely criticized and circulated a picture of a female Egyptian protester who was stripped from her black abaya by some army men. (Photo courtesy of twitter users)

    AL ARABIYA

A picture of a female Egyptian protester who was stripped from her black abaya and allegedly abused by army men has met with angry tweets criticizing the country’s Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) on Saturday.

The photos on social media shows a woman, clothed in just her denim pants, as army men hurl kicks only then to leave the lady unconscious lying on the street.

    ...

Another bold tweet criticized the military over the “death of a sheikh, a Christian, a child, veiled woman stripped to underwear. Shame on you.”

    ...

“Fire gutting the historic Egyptian Scientific Ins ute. 200,000 books dating back to 1798 are gone," said on concerned tweet.

Looks like the only "spring" in Arabic countries seems to be in the jumping skills of those armed guards. Thankfully American cops are too fat to even try that.

That whole Arab Spring has really improved things for Egyptians, eh? Particularly the Coptic Christians.

Good to see, good to see.

Christians were treated better in Iraq under Sadam. At least the Arab spring was initiated by Arabs.

Talk about this in Egypt all you want.....my concern is how the military can turn on the Egyptian people and can that happen here in the U.S.? Is this a preview of what we are in for this spring?

    Well, there are similarities.[/sarcasm]

So, Dan, should we just ignore the atrocities in Egypt or do something? And, if we should just ignore, why report on it?

those videos show what happens when you give the country on a silver platter to its Military Industrial Complex, and then the ppl try to take it back.

Don't doubt for a minute that cannot happen in other places (China, Iran, Russia, USA)

what shocks me the most is the ppl these days have the balls to go out to the street and try to take their country back. What balls

Pure prurient concerns. Got it. I guess Mubarek's mild-by-comparison dictatorial measures weren't enough to sate our bloodlust.

Oh, by the way, do you have less concern for Syrians and Iranians under the thumb of similarly violent rulers ... and historical veracity? While we know about those atrocities, they sure don't seem to drive the concern and wish for "historical veracity" that Egypt has.
