No. Just not enough fund. We already acquired a star few years ago. Richard Jefferson, does it ring a bell?
I know we are a small market team. But with Tony Parker and Tim Duncan and Coach Pop. Why isn't there anyone that wants join the trio is it the money or what. I don't know why no free agents pick San Antonio. What do you think?![]()

Spurs don't have the money to throw at free agents.
Spurs aren't appealing anymore when you have the Mavericks, the Lakers, the Thunders, and even the Clippers of the NBA.
Spurs were ousted by the 8th seed last April.
Pick your choice.
Spurs don't get endorsments from the big markets
Only reason anyone came here in the past is because we were a contender. Now, not so much.
Do people want them to just sign free agents regardless if we need them or not?
Spurs are strapped for any kind of cash to throw at worthy FA. Those FA's are signing with teams that are giving them more money. It's that simple.
It's not about chance to win or market size. But the numbers of zeros on the check.
Enough with these pointless threads already.
Even a half baked scrub like Josh Howard chose a dead beat franchise like the Jazz who are on the fast track to nowhere. Just embarrassing...
That triple negative makes my brain hurt.
exactly what the , not even scrubs want to play here
It's not the night life or the weather. It's the team. This is obviously Tim Duncan's swan song. The offense belongs to a Big 3 that they can't be part of. There's no exciting group of young studs to join. They don't have the money to give up fat contracts. Right now, this is the place where careers go to die.
Most of the reasons have already been stated:
The Spurs are caught in a classic catch-22. No one wants to come here as they're not contendors. They're not contendors because no one wants to come here.
They're the oldest team in the league. And, you couple that with the city of San Antonio (which is nice in many ways) but isn't LA, NY or Miami, you've got the current situation.
I, for one, have no problem going back to the drawing board. That is to start with obtaining HIGH draft picks (that is 1-6) either by being bad enough to get more lottery balls or by trading talent, and DRAFTING elite players who will make the franchise back into a champion.
I think the FO wants to do this as well - but TP is really the only trading chip they currently possess and trading him NOW would be a clear sign to TD and Ginobili that they've lost faith. So, they're not going to do it. Call that stupid, call that mind-boggling, call it what you want - I call it classy!
I can wait a year or 2 or 5 to get back to prominence. I know the limitations that my city presents for my team. I have faith in the model that worked just 6 years ago. I'm not one of these "we gotta sign everyone NOW and win a championship immediately."
Call me stupid, call me mind-boggling, call me what you want. But ask yourself this - outside of signing Dwight Howard, who else is available right now that will help the Spurs get back to the Finals? Anyone else?
If not, then signing or not signing this guy or that guy doesn't matter...
They offered him more dumbass.
No they're not. Face palm.
That's where I stopped reading.
I'll pick: You suck at life.
Is this team even a playoff team this year? Probably. But next year? Why play for a team going down, down, down? And may not even be in San Antonio in a few years once its chintzy-ass owner sells all its good players to boil it down to nothing for a sale?
God this forum is going to .
The Spurs have a 25 year lease with the at&t center. They're not going anywhere.
Who's older? And by how much?
And if you stopped reading, then you totally missed the point...
all good though
No hot chicks either.
Let's keep it simply - they don't - and for a myriad of reasons.
Build through the draft.
Who's older?
Lakers
Celtics
Chicago
Dallas
Miami
There are only four Spurs players over the age of 30. Tim, Manu, RJ, Bonner.
Celtics: 6
Lakers: 8
Chicago: 5
Dallas: 8
Miami: 6
Not sure how up to date, but link below states Spurs are the 3rd oldest team (I stand corrected) by average age.
http://slumz.boxden.com/f16/average-...teams-1463132/
The only teams older are the Lakers and Heat.
Both of those teams have superstar players on LARGE market teams in huge cities w/ many more fans, more excitement, different night life, etc.
Both those teams can be older and still attract.
No, I dont not see why no one dont like to not come here.
I added to the list.
Age of a team has nothing to do with attracting a player. The amount of money you have and are willing to throw at the player plays way more into it than nightlife, age of the team, record, etc.
How that's so hard for people to understand is mind numbingly baffling.
It's one thing to be ignorant, just another to be stupid and hard headed. I don't mean you, just people in general who start threads like this.
