Whoever thinks Ford will be a useful piece for this team doesn't know , tbh, imho.
Fair enough, and it's obvious that Neal should get more playing time than Ford, but there are certainly times that will call for a passing PG as opposed to a shoot 1st PG.

Logical posting tbh.
Longhorn Fan vs. Reality is going to be an interesting battle this season. I got my money on Reality but Lonhorn Fan won't be short on faith.
That said, I can't hate on what Ford did tonight. Compared to his normal over-dribbling ways, he was damn near playing hot potato. As long as Ford doesn't waste too many possessions and competes defensively, that's about as much as one can expect.
Although I still don't understand how the FO thought he was a fit. This roster calls for a point guard who can either shoot, defend or be a weapon on pick-and-rolls. Ford is 0-for-3 in those qualifications. I'm hopeful Ford makes it work -- and he's actually giving me hope so far because he's already better than he was last year -- but it's going to be tough.
Believe he said "solid set of minutes". And that means Ford has the backup PG on lock until he crashes and burns.
Being a Lil harsh on Tj. First game as a spur....I think he did fine.
wtf imo tbh, lol. smh.
Thanks. I asked the people I was watching with, and we all heard "seven". That makes more sense. Didn't seem like something he would say out loud, even if he was thinking it. But then again, Pop doesn't always have much of a filter between brain and mouth.
Give him time to learn the system. Good grief. It's amazing he can do anything with this short period of practice/game experience with the squad.
Thought this photo would fit here

I didn't like the way he handled the half-assed press they were using against him. Otherwise he was just OK.
He had a few possessions where he really struggled and turned it over, but at least he stopped dribbling down the clock while Manu was out there with him. Basically, he didn't get in the way of both runs the team had today in both halves. Agree Neal should get his minutes though.
At least when the Spurs waive him, he can go play in the Greek league
I'm right here, dumbass.
Your analysis of the box scores of two games sucked as bad as your analysis of tonight's box score.
I knew he was going to get his cookies stolen by Pargo. He just has to be able to take care of the ball and make the right decisions and compete on defense.
Except when they aren't.
Greeks never last more than one season in the NBA.
T.J. Ford was good tonight. He is finding his groove and made up for Parker coming out flat.
Ford is the Best in Texas.
The one thing Ford brings to the table is NBA ability lane penetration. I'm not sure we've ever had that in a backup PG. In the past, the second unit ran a lot of plays where the ball just swung around the horn, with maybe a SG doing some penetration and kick action. They can run a lot of the same sets they run for Parker.
That being said, TJ REALLY needs to learn not to dribble himself too deep into defensive traffic. Also, they will eventually make him shoot the ball, which is a bad thing. One thing that can forestall that is if he learns to effectively split NBA traps the way Parker seems to effortlessly do.
Better than Quinn, RMJ, and NVE as a backup. Probably better than even Hill as far as acting like a PG...but Joseph still seems to be a better prospect as of right now. I'm not sure if Neal could "penetrate" as well as Ford, but I think his other skills like shooting and PnR would be more useful. Big picture: it's good to have 3 viable options...but typical that Pop is going with the worst one.
Too much hate on TJ Ford. He's not a bad player, and probably one of the better back up point guards.
He's playing the point guard position with two preseason games under his belt and a handful of practices. Of course he is going to turn the ball over a little and not run as smoothly. Look around the league. Turnovers are up. Teams are getting in shape. He wasn't the only one showing signs of needing to get used to his new teamates and getting in shape. Let's give him a couple of games before reaching any conclusions.
Dribble Dribble Dribble.... Can't stay in front of man on defense..... Dribble Dribble Dribble... Can't....
TJ has only been running the spurs offense for a couple of weeks now. I do not think he has been bad at all and I anticipate less dribbling once he knows where everyone is supposed to on the floor and can work the ball around. Funny to think that some posters thought by some miracle TJ would be a good defender even though he has been below average dating back to college...
You people are re ed. Criticize him when he actually plays badly. He may have passed p late in the shot clock but a ended up getting open shots on the perimeter as well as an easy bucket low for splitter. In full court transition I saw enough to be excited bout what he has to offer. He gave us solid minutes last night
