Given the exact same players and coaches that Phillip Rivers has had to work with. (Including MartyBall Shot in 2006/Norval Turner since).
Simply switch places with PRivers.

Recievers dropping balls Rivers threw would have miraculously caught them?
Punt returners dropping the ball and giving momentum right back to the Patriots would have somehow held on if the QB was different.

Rivers was a game manager in his first year as starter in 2006. If they had an actual play maker at QB in 2006 they woulda been unstoppable. I wasn't trying to talk about Rivers, but most of those QBs you listed were notably better than 2006 Rivers.

I can be as tough on Marty as anyone, but in all fairness he very rarely- if ever- had the superior quarterback in a playoff game.

To the point, the Patsies victory over the Chargers was classic Martyball chokeage and is not on Rivers.
1st drive the Chargers driving and well in field goal range and Marty tries to overcompensate for his conservative rep by doing some reverse on a slippery field. 10 yard loss and out of range for that dynamo Nate Kaeding.
Fumbled punt to completely bail the Pats offense out yet again.
Marty going into prevent-the-win defense just minutes before halftime to let the Patsies move downfield for 14-10 vs 14-3 or 14-6 at worst. This after the defense had handed them their ass all 1st half. Oh and it was Marty who made the call. Wade Phillips verified.
Lets see that pussy whom you like Vincent Jackson dropping a perfectly thrown ball with no one around him for a 20+ yard gain in a crucial 3rd qtr drive that would have given momentum right back to the Bolts. Marlon McCree who intercepted Tom Doll for the game winning change of possession. Oh wait he tried to advance the ball while being surrounded by Pats and fumbled it back. Actually giving the Pats a net gain on the play.
Earlier McCree getting an unsportsmanlike call after the Bolts stuffed the Pats -yet again- for a loss on 3rd down moving them out of what was field goal range.
For those who saw the game and know the Chargers this was the worst choke job -by far- in their history.
Yeah all those great QBs would have avoided that with MMMmmartyball calling the shots.
Rivers isn't to blame for the 2006 loss but that doesn't mean some of the QBs you listed wouldn't have been able to win it.
I agree it's possible. Just as a 5th year 2009 Rivers should be better then the 2006 Rivers was.
As the game came down it was bonehead coaching and plays that a QB had no control over.
But yes perhaps a kick ass prime QB from the list (or even a 2009- PRivers time transferred back) does even more on O to overcome the Martyball performance.
Btw the 2009-10 playoff loss to Rex Ryan and rookie QB Sanchez, a defensive battle, also featured a perfectly thrown jump ball to Vincent Pussy Jackson for a big gain and 1st down deep in Jets territory. Jackson at 6'5" easily wins the jump vs Revis. Jackson gets both hands on the ball, then fumbles it on the way down. Fumbles it without any impetus from Revis. (Some of the Jackson apologists/Revis worshippers tried spinning this as great D by Revis).
Once again, what's a QB to do? Puts ball right on the money in a tight scoring game.
2004 Drew Brees drives the 12-4 home field playoff Bolts down to the Jets 30 yard line (or so) for a 1st down. Rainy eve off and on so field is slippery. Better to get some more yards to make the game winning field goal even closer? Um, yeah. Esp since it's Kaeding. Martyball does three straight uber conservative hand offs and actually loses 4-5 yards. Clank, fg shanked.
Again, what's a QB to have done?

I agree, Rivers isn't the one who blew that game down the stretch. Whoever it was who fumbled what should have been Brady's game ending interception single handily blew that game.
