That's Big! Would be nice if he missed his trip to LSU
Great tweet on DE Mario Edwards:
@ITBlake
Blake Munroe
Blue chip DE Mario Edwards told Inside Texas he has a new top 3. Texas, LSU & FSU in that order.
That's Big! Would be nice if he missed his trip to LSU
When did LSU even become a consideration for Mario? I guess when you're national champs you can get anyone at anytime (westerman).
Some tweets from UA practices.

RB Johnathan Gray is very talented but another reason why he is so good-the kid is a finisher. Was impressed w/ way he finishes every rep

#Longhorns verbal DT Malcom Brown had a Very good 1st day. His play even caught the attention of his team's NFL OL coach

Mario Edwards was a handful in 1-on-1's -not only great size & power but he is so good & active w/ his hands as a pass rusher
yeah, great stuff from IT -

I’ve got it narrowed to a few schools,” said Edwards. “Right now I’m looking at Texas, Florida State and LSU. Those are my top three. You could say that I'm still a soft commit to Florida State though. I haven't officially decomitted or anything yet.”
The question is, in what order are those top three?
“Texas is my number one,” Edwards said. “They are followed by LSU and then Florida State. I will visit FSU on January 14th and LSU on January 20th. I'm going to make my decision on National Signing Day.”
Obviously, that’s great news for the Longhorns. The Denton product said that Texas recently jumped in the lead after he took an official visit to Austin in early December.
“It was a great time down in Austin," Edwards told Inside Texas. "I went down there and got to chill with my teammate, Alex De La Torre. He and I had a good time down there, going out and seeing everything. Hanging with their recruiting class was real fun. Plus we got to talk with their current players, see how they interact with the coaches and how their practices go."
Speaking of the coaches, Edwards says that’s another reason that he is now hooked on the Horns.
“I like the whole staff,” he explained. “I really like Coach (Manny) Diaz and the way he runs his defense. I love what he does with his defensive ends, dropping them in coverage, rushing the passer, attacking with them standing up and just using them to their full potential. Coach (Oscar) Giles is great too. He's an excellent coach.”
Lots of momentum in UT's favor with Edwards at the moment. He may end up visiting FSU and LSU before all is said and done, but Mack still has his school and in-home visit to use. I think he's really bonded with the UT commitments, loves Austin, digs Diaz's style, etc. Looking pretty damn good right now.
Here's a picture for everyone to overreact to. It looks like the mixed martial arts company, Tapout, donated the mouthpieces for the Army All-Americans this year. There were lots of colors to choose from and DGB picked this one. Could be just his high school colors but we can pretend it's UT:

An OU site asked DGB why he picked that color...he apparently smiled real big and said "no comment."
nice find! i always prefer the small details and semantics and the physical reaction to questions, rather than what is actually quoted. so that is damn nice to read. trying to not get too excited here but things sound about as good as you could possibly hope for with Mario and DGB.
OU has got to be reeling seeing Mario and DGB slip away after how promising things looked for them recently with both prospects.
I thought his school colors were red and blue. Might be good for us.
his HS colors are blue and orange.
Mario's high school colors are red and blue.
I'm the same way even if it's as silly as talking about a mouthpiece.
Per OrangeBloods, the first big-time 2013 prospect is about to be off of the board. WR/TE Derrick Griffin will commit to Texas A&M at some point this week.
Until he decommits in 3 months
This one has the potential to get interesting after all. Armstead has been telling some national reporters that he could take an official visit to Texas after the Army Bowl is over. Instead of flying home to California, he would just drive to Austin with his family and stay the weekend. Even better news is there's a chance WR Dorial Green-Beckham could decide to do the same even though there hasn't been any serious talk about it so far. Nothing to get worked up about right now but nice to know Armstead is talking about Texas.
I've always thought that should use the Army All American Game's location more to their advantage. I'm happy to hear that the coaches finally realized that. Next project, getting recruits to visit during Texas Relays.
Some Under Armour practice footage is on ESPNU right now for anyone that's home today.
as long as their moms don't come (TX relays that is)
p.s. back when i was in college my mom would call me to order me not to go downtown during TX relays weekend, "You can go party anytime you want, justthis weekend."
LOL. I went to 6th Street during Texas Relays one time while in college and never did it again.
Texas relays is fun.......until it gets dark. That's when it gets ghetto and 6th street looks like Bourbon st during mardi gras.
Picture of the 2012 crew. Only DT Alex Norman is missing.
