Well the championship game skews that pretty severely. Think of the swing if OKState wasn't voted out.
from TAI'm on break, have nothing to do, and was bored so here I present the bowl pay outs by conference. The first one I did with the payouts listed on Wikipedia. The second one is with payouts listed on
http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/b..._schedule.html
SEC : $65.7 m
B1G : $54.95 m
PAC 12 : $54.95 m
ACC : $45.175 m
Big XII : $33 m
Big East : $22.25 m
------
SEC : $56.86 m
B1G : $52.59 m
ACC : $46.915 m
PAC 12 : $43.27 m
BIG XII : $33.45 m
Big East : $22.8 m
Either way you look at it SEC is the best and the Big 12 still sucks.
Things to point out :
- Wikipedia claims each team in the Cotton Bowl gets $6.75 m where as the other site claims $3.62.
-Wikipedia claims that the Holiday Bowl payout was $1 m where the other site claims $2.15
-Wikipedia also claims the NCG pays out $21.2 m per each team where the other site pays out $18m
-Wikipedia claims the Rose Bowl pays out $22.3 m and the other site claims $17 m.
Well the championship game skews that pretty severely. Think of the swing if OKState wasn't voted out.
More the fact that the b12 only had one team in a bcs bowl this year.
I can't recall off the top of my head the last time that happened.
The SEC also has two more teams. If you divide 55/12 comes out to 4.6 mil per team or so.
divide the big 12 by 10 comes out to 3.3 mil or so. When you put it that way 1.3 mil is a drop in the bucket compared to overall conference payouts, where the SEC and Big 12 are very comparable. Your point is negligible at best.
When you throw your 25 Million dollar conference buyout, plus the loan that the academic portion of A&M gave the athletic department that hasn't been paid back, plus the buyout for Sherm, the idiot decisions that Byrne has made are going to take about 30 years in SEC conference bowl payouts to make up. Good luck with that.![]()
lol clueless
lol aggies
lol thinking you guys had a legit shot at a BCS bowl
lol 25-22
Fact is the SEC teams each got a little over a million more than the Big __ teams got.
I guess after a decade or so it'll start paying off for the Aggies.![]()
And that doesn't even include the extra coin each Big XII-II school will bank from Aggies' departure fee.![]()
ftr, schools don't really make much (if any) money off bowl games.
....While appearing in a bowl game is profitable for head coaches and their staffs, the schools generally break even or lose money on the trips - especially to lower- and middle-tier games. It is often the coaches' bonuses, which make up a quarter or more of bowl expenses, that put the schools' bowl ledger in the red.
N.C. State's athletic department lost money in 2008 when the Wolfpack traveled to Birmingham, Ala., to compete in the PapaJohns.com Bowl.
According to records the university provided to the NCAA, the trip to Birmingham cost N.C. State $1,057,580, including coaches' bonuses. The Atlantic Coast Conference, meanwhile, provided N.C. State with $1 million to cover bowl-related expenses - which left the Wolfpack nearly $60,000 short of breaking even for the trip......

Yeah.... since the only income we'll have coming in is from bowl appearances. Great logic.
You shouldn't have started a thread about bowl payouts then. Great logic.
Give me some facts about how far you guys are in for all the buyouts.
Not guesses. Not Texag lies.
Then think about how much money you passed up when UT offered to go in on a network with you.

Highly unlikely, as the Aggies probably won't be making many bowl appearances.
They will be funded vicariously through the other, better teams who do go to bowls.
They'll be fine either way.
Ah, very true, I don't know how I forgot about that.to the Aggies for annually sitting on their asses during bowl season while Bama, Florida, and others make money for them.
Not surprised.
It was last year.
It apparently has happened a lot. Buckeye sticker for you.
Off the top of my head, I can't recall you having any other stickers.
Lets look at payouts in the SEC and what Texas A&M was projected to make in the big 12, shall we:
For the most recent data available SEC schools make about $17.42 million per year in conference payouts.
Texas A&M was expected to make $15 to $20 million (Texas A&M themselves projected roughly $16 million in their budget) in conference payouts this year from the Big 12 right in the same neighborhood. Good luck making your conference buyout, Loan, and sherm's contract up now. Your logic sucks still. The move to the SEC makes no financial sense, especially in the short term. It will likely take a decade to make up for your buyout. In addition, you can expect your revenue to not increase as quickly in the SEC as in the big 12 because you will likely not win as many games, i.e. fewer donors giving money, etc., etc.

In addition those projections don't include theoretical money A&M would have gotten from NU and CU exit payouts. So... womp for A&M finances. I suppose accounting and financial understanding at the Mays School of Business hasn't improved since this:

Aggie butthurt>>>financial ramificationsThe move to the SEC makes no financial sense, especially in the short term.
This thread is full of win. Good morning laugh
Fewer donors giving money? Donors are lining up at the door giving money to A&M right now with the move to the SEC. One of the reasons we were able to get rid of Sherman, start our "Athletic Village" and start our renovations to Kyle Field next year. Lol fewer donors giving money.
The SEC will soon revamp there TV deals and will undoubtedly have the highest payout among BCS conferences once that is done. Saying the move makes no financial sense to A&M is beyond re ed.
A decade to make up for our buyout? Instead of the big12 paying us our 15 mil this season they will keep that money and all is done. There will be no "paying off the buyout" year by year.
