Let me be clear, I'm Tim's biggest fan, but let's be honest.... he looks less than 50% of what he looked like last year. He's in the best shape that he's been in for the last 5 years.

To look on the bright side of things, with Manu injured, Tim needs to step it up. We all know what he can be, we've just been waiting for it. I hate to see Manu injured, but now is when Timmy can step up to be the Spurs dominant player (that he has been lacking for the first few weeks). It might be the best thing that could happen for Los Spurs. I don't want to depend on Manu all year; hopefully, this will spark Duncan to actually have a presence on the court.

Let's get to the truth... He's lean, in nearly the best shape of his life, and the er needs to deliver, even though he hasn't done so as of late. I'm PRAYING the Manu injury makes Timmy step up a knock; instead of being a third rate center, ready to retire next year.

Another "Manu getting injured is a good thing" thread.

Only Spurs & Suns guys do such.

Yes, I am a Spurs fan. I hate your team with a passion surpassed only by my innate hatred of the Phoenix Suns. My loathing of your team was nurtured, but, it's every bit as bright as that hatred of the Suns. Your fandom is much like the Suns fandom. This Thread is but one silly example. They do the same damn thing after a "tragedy" like Manu's 5th. Both your fandoms turn any disaster into a "good thing." It's so immature it's embarassing.

Tim's pretty much done as a force in the NBA. That's clear from his play last season and to start this season. There's nothing you can do when the ravages of time take over, and Tim has over 1200 games on his legs. Terribly sad, but true.

Tim is the reason im a Spursfan.. ive been following him since i was in 7th or 8th grade.. but if this is the Tim were going to see.. id rather he hang it up at the end of the season than go around again and look like Hakeem in Toronto.

Tim just needs help. I think he's like David Robinson back in '02-'03. He needs a Tim Duncan like player that can score and defend while he plays a support role.

It's not just the total NBA mileage. It's the four years of college ball that preceded that, the fact that he was playing a major role from day one in the NBA, going to at least the 2nd round every season and before long, carrying a team in virtually every aspect of the game. A player only has so much spring in his legs and by the time he completed his 11th season, his was pretty much gone.

Guys like Bryant and Nowitzki didn't play college ball and were eased into the league. They also never had to carry anywhere near the all around load Duncan did for many seasons. And people wonder why they're still approximating their prime production and he's not.

Good point. It would be interesting to look over the historical data to see what effect playing four years has on NBA career length and productivity.

With Ginobili out Timmy will put up about 15 points and 8-9 rebounds a game I suspect. He may even put up a few 20 and 10 games.

I think it's wishful thinking to hope that timmy can even avg last years numbers 14 pts and 9 boards. I checked the Admirals numbers at 36 years old , there something like 8 and 7. As much as I hate it I think Timmy will have something closer to that.

For me the best is to hope is come playoff time , timmy can avg a 14 and 8 in a seven game series. and hold a zach Randolph to maybe below 22

Culby's right about the sickly sweet stench of ignorance that permeates team forums, however it's how team forums are which is why Culby doesn't post on a Lakers forum.

This must be the least sickly sweet, because it attracts so many fans of other teams.

Oh, and I didn't notice Tim was less than 50%. I noticed he defers, even when he was hitting his shots, and he's lost confidence in the bank shot. He doesn't have the hops he once had, but that's what, 9" vertical to a 5" vertical?

    Let Tim worry about Tim.

Someone has to be the voice of reason. I credit him where it's due, but also sprinkle a bit of reasoning on it to bring him back down to Earth.
