Also, the decline in Duncan this year is fairly dramatic, IMO. Even last year he looked far more capable than he has this year. The wheels may indeed be just about off.
Losing additional weight in the offseason was the final nail in the coffin on his post game imo, but he shows flashed every now and then (up and under against denver, and his spin move against Perkins today). I'm honestly surprised he scored as much as he did given that he's on the second night of a back to back and is playing against the best defensive frontline in the league.

But the wheels have definitely not fallen off, he just needs to find a rhythm with his new teammates and be more decisive on the block. Tim is still an elite defender, passer, and outside shooter. He just can't embarrass guys down low anymore. Give him about 10-15 more games before you write his obituary.

It's not just TP's PER. It's common for guards that are athletic to have their overall FG% drop drastically along with their ability to finish around the rim. Much like FG% and REB RATE indicate when a big man may be declining, TP's numbers at this stage correlate highly with someone who's declined athletically.
Do you have any idea how broad and generalizing this statement is? And how completely open to a million different interpretations this statement is?

There's no reason why anyone with half a brain would start comparing the decline of TP and Duncan. There's no reason to even go into the discussion of the similarities of their respective "declines". From the difference in their ages, to the difference in the injuries they're sustained over their careers, to the difference in the positions they play, it's stupid to compare their "declines".
I'm not comparing Tim's decline with TP's. I'm laughing that I was told, even when I provided evidence to my claims that you can't say things like that unless you can prove them conclusively and that either way, it's way too early to even say that stuff regardless of the situation.

Really? ducks isn't, but a few people are. He's got to slow down soon (I agree with you on that), so depending on how we're going at the trade deadline, trading TP around the deadline or in the offseason might turn into a good idea. I think we have to do everything possible to help Timmy in his final season, but we also need to begin rebuilding ASAP.

Time we face the fact that Timmy will retire after this season and we need a full rebuild. We have the role players, now we need to find two potential star players... how we do that is in question, but trading Manu/TP can't be ruled out.
I was never against trading TP to improve the team but dude it's too late, we won't get star players for tp and manu anyway, trading them won't bring a 5th to SAS... in his final year I'm pretty sure Tim is happy to play with Tony and Manu... I mean they are together for 10 years.

If one preach to help tim to get another trophy then tim is the one we should try to trade for a contender

Personally I just prefer see these 3 together with a SAS jersey till the end

But you did say 9 games into the season that a guy who wasn't anywhere close to having the wheels fall off last year appears to have fallen off 9 games into the season after saying it's too early to tell anything significant like that just yesterday. That is why I laughed.
Now you're just lying. I guess thats the step you have to take when you're unable to just admit you are wrong. Feel free to provide a link to where anyone told you that it was pointless to say something.
Fact: Tim looks worse this year than last year, especially on the low block and on the boards.

Fact: Tim hasn't even played 10 games this season

Fact: Statistically speaking, this is not a good sample size to compare to a previous 82-game season.

If someone actually told you that verbatim, then you've been wronged and I'm sorry. But making a comment about Duncan's decline is what got you up in arms. And I think people should feel fairly justified in making comments about duncan's decline. It's an obvious thing

Well its pointless to argue because neither of us can actually prove it conclusively one way or another. We'll see in a couple of months. If TP's play hasn't improved your case will be much stronger.

If players around TP continue to play well it should make his job much easier right now. Opposing teams are likely coming in and keying on him since they don't have Manu to worry about now and Tim isn't the force he once was so that may be a factor as well. There are alot of variables involved of course but right now its encouraging that he's managing to play well in the fourth, if nothing else.
As an aside I find this logic funny. We shouldn't argue (which we all do) unless you have conclusive evidence? It's funny.
I didn't say we shouldn't. I said its pointless. Most of the discussion on this board is pointless.

I guess its not pointless as in it holds some entertainment value but thats about it.

When did this become a fact? He's given no such indication and if anything, it sounds as if he's leaning towards playing another season. It's as if the masses think they can make the decision for him.

They're not trading Ginobili and unless this season goes south to the point where they don't look like they're going to make the playoffs, they won't trade Parker, either. Since they've failed to acquire adequate help for Duncan up front, the least they can do for him is allow him to finish out his career playing with Ginobili and Parker.

Except I am speaking in general. I say in general when you look for signs of physical decline, you look at the things I mentioned. Again, I'm not saying TP is worse than Tim. I'm not comparing the difference or reasoning in the two. I'm simply saying that independent of Tim, TP's metrics to date show a decline and it's alarming, even if I know it's too early to tell. I'm aware you can make more conclusions on Tim quicker because of the progression, but that wasn't what I laughed at. I've already explained that.

DPG apparently you don't read English very well. Is it your second language? I commend you for being multilingual. Its pointless to argue, however, does not mean the same as its pointless for you to say something.

Thanks for posing those posts though.
