Yellow No.2 works for me.
I used to always use the standard Berol Mirado #2 pencil and really liked them. But at some point, they got bought by Paper Mate. I don't know if the quality is the same as when I first used them. They seem OK. Anyway, I'm looking to buy a premium quality pencil. I see they have a Mirado Black Warrior which looks pretty good.
Does anyone have any experience with the BW pencil? Or have any other recommendations?
Also, no mechanical pencils. And it must have an eraser.
Yeah. It's a good pencil. The Berol Mirados were really solid too. It's what I used in high school and why I went back to them when I started using pencils more. But I'm skeptical that Paper Mate hasn't cut some corners. I wish I had one of the old pencils to compare it too.
I also like the color of the Berol Mirados over the Ticonderogas. The Ticonderogas are too yellow while the Mirados are more of an orange. In any event, I think I want something a step up from either of those. I put the Sanford Amerian in roughly the same catetory as the two above.
The word pencil in French is crayon. How confusing is that? What do they call crayons?
I don't give a . I'm just looking for a good quality pencil. Help me out Dex.
only kind of pencils I've used since 3rd grade. sharpening sucks
I thought this thread was for general pencil talk. Excuse TF outta me.
This guy seems pretty smitten with these: http://pencils.com/blog/best-pencil-...joseph-finder/
Agreed. Regular pencils are obviously superior for art unless you are illustrating, but writing with anything other than a mechanical pencil is for suckers.
That sounds like a good pencl but they quit making it. The article said you could buy one pencil on Ebay for about $40. Way more than I want to pay. I don't mind paying $1 per pencil if it's a great pencil. But anything more seems frivolous.
If you are really picky about pencils you should graduate from elementary school and get you a Staedtler or Kohinoor lead holder, sharpener, and a pink pearl eraser. you can change from a wide variety of lead density depending on what you are doing and how fine a line you want to draw. Also, practice rolling the pencil in your hand constantly as you write to keep it consistent.

that. I want a mother ing pencil. Not a lead holder. My handwriting is horrible and it's much more legible when using a pencil. I've tried mechanical pencils but they just don't work as well for me. All I'm trying to do is find the best one I can for a reasonable amount of money.
That being said, and after doing some research, I might give CC's recommendations a shot.
I really didn't know there was a difference between an MP and an LH. The LH looks like a good alternative.
Yep, that skinny ass lead in mechanical pencils sucks. Lead holders are nothing like that. They are big boy pencils. I keep several in my desk along with half a dozen different hardness lead packs.
You should check out Pen Island. Ive heard they have some good deals.
maybe youre thinking in the wrong direction. maybe they call them crayons because theyre "fancy pencils."
did you ever do that little drum thing with two pencils?
As you get older, especially with the metal pencils, you might find one day you no longer have lead in it. When that happens, you might need to switch to a pen, like other adults, unless you are an artist. Judging by your ty attempts at humor, you certainly aren't a writer (at least not a published one).
theres this thing..called a computer
Being left-handed, I hate pencil. The Persians have it made writing right to left.
MY ty attempts at humor...MY ty attempts at humor. That's rich.
I wrote a small report for work about the Dixon Ticonderoga’s and why that should be the only pencil ordered…Good to know that I am not the only loon-spin when it comes to pencils…Paper mates are the worst…The Mirado Black Warrior is round and writes well but the erasing qualities are not as good as Ticonderoga’s…

I just checked out Pen Island somewhat excited to see a large collection of lead holders. What a worthless site. From what I can tell, it's just a portal to take you to companies that sell promotional pens. And it doesn't even give you that many sites to go to. Again...worthless to my quest for a quality pencil or lead holder.
i have NO. 2 pencils from Eastman and Paper Mate, but the easer sucks on one of them so i have a block easer that i use
