With the Celtics struggling to begin the 11-12 season, several teams have inquired about the availability of Paul Pierce.
One Eastern Conference official said, there are “lots of calls asking if [Boston] will blow it up.”
Pierce has two years and $32 million left on his contract through the 13-14 season. Trading Pierce would allow the Celtics to become players in free agency.

Spurs forum
The Spurs have absolutely nothing they could offer that a rebuilding Boston team could want.
I read it twice....Yup not spurs related
This site has an entire NBA forum
let's get it out in the open.
Pierce for Ginobili. Would you do it?
the great manu for pierce
Boston would have no use for Manu, since he still has another year on his contract. If they were going to salary dump Pierce, you'd think they could get a really nice young player, an expiring, and a first rounder. The Spurs' only big expiring is Duncan's, so that's out.
Ginobili an Anderson to sweeten the deal. LOL. I love Nobili but he stays hurt in his old age to much.
I don't think that's a very sweet deal for Boston; it would likely take Duncan+Leonard.
I just don't even see a trade to a contender that looks realistic. Philly could offer Nocioni's expiring + Evan Turner, but they already have Iguodala and Thaddeus Young, and Pierce isn't enough of an upgrade over either to lose Turner for.
Thank God Jermaine isn't our Gm..not only a useless trade that does not better our team for Ginobili, let's also throw in a young sg/sf on a rookie contract also..
Manu for Pierce would be treading water, not rebuilding for Boston. Both are old players.
Pierce is washed up to the same extent as Duncan these days...
Trading for him would either be a lateral move or a downgrade, not to mention his hefty contract. No thanks.
The Spurs could offer RJ, a rookie and a pick, but that doesn't make much sense for the C's. I think Pierce will retire as Celtic.
That's overpaying for Pierce by at least a first round pick. No way Boston gets that (that is, not by a team whose GM actually has a brain).
Pierce would be great fit next to the Big 3 but there's no way to make a deal.
Spurs would need a wheelchair accessible lockerroom and a new van, and the Celtics would need a permanent arm and hand doctor for Manu.
There is a way to get Pierce to San Antonio.
Pierce is 35 years old and his contract is:
2011-2012: $15.3M
2012-2013: $16.8M
2013-2014: $15.3M ( $5M guaranteed)
I can see no team willing to take this contract while giving up expiring and picks for him. In that case, Boston could decide to use the amnesty clause on Pierce. Given that Spurs can be below the cap by amnestying RJ, they can then make a bid on Pierce.
And if Celtics are rebuilding, making a push for KG would be a good idea.
celtics won't trade pierce. it would be like the spurs trading duncan. KG and ray allen on the other hand...
KG is so done.
KG is done. Pierce is done. Allen is a vagina. Small wonder they are like 4-8.
