Now that's interesting. Trying to steal two from FSU.
Turns out it's the same mystery TE that Texas was flirting with earlier this season, Christo Kourtzidis. UT is doing an in-home visit with his family this evening in California and it's still up in the air if he'll visit Austin. He wanted to take one last official visit before making his final decision so he's looking at both Texas and UCLA. He's currently committed to FSU and was in Tallahassee last weekend.

Add Deon Hollins Jr. to the First Junior Day List. HUGE. I think he commits if offered. Quite possibly the best junior pass rusher in the state of Texas.

Some recruiting updates...
**The reports vary on who actually visited TE Christo Kourtzidis last night in Orange, CA, but it looks like it was either Major Applewhite or Bruce Chambers. The visit to Texas is tentatively scheduled for Saturday and whether or not he travels to Austin may depend on how his in-home visit with FSU goes this evening.
**Talking about the second Junior Day on February 25th...2013 TE Jeremiah Gaines and 2013 LB Brett Wade are two of the bigger names being mentioned so far.
**I never added this guy's name to the Junior Day list because I wanted to get more information, but 2013 QB Richard Lagow of Plano does NOT have an invite to Austin. I thought it was pretty random that the staff hadn't made contact in over a year but he somehow managed to receive an invite to the first Junior Day. Clearly there was a misunderstanding.
We have a definitive answer on 2013 DB Marcell Harris. His father told OrangeBloods just now that they will not be attending the first Junior Day, so we can take him off of the list.
I wouldn't worry about this. Reading Papa Harris' comments, the family was just there in Austin. The purpose of the Junior Day visit is to receive an offer, and Harris has a Texas offer on February 2nd. I want Harris to visit as much as possible, but I don't expect the Harris is visit twice in a month.
Applewhite is Texas' best offensive recruiter and he's tight Kourtzidis' head coach former Texas QB Greg Cicero. Wise decision sending the Major.
I know the 2013 class is a down year at the top, but I think the depth is excellent as some positions. Look at the First Junior Day list, and the two early candidate for the Second Junior Day List. Plenty of talented kids that can help Texas.
I love the Hollins news. He and Wade are my 2 favorites on defense. I think everybody is going to be a fan after watching his junior film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfSYjFI1meI
The Lagow news struck me as odd. I saw Plano vs. Allen in person last season and Lagow didn't show me much other than a nice frame.
What has really jumped out at me from watching D.J. Ward's film is his length wing span, and strength. If he gets near the QB / ball carrier, he's going to his hands on them and he's going to bring them down.
I didn't see an explosive first step, but Ward fits what Manny Diaz is looking for. With his frame he can play inside and outside, be stout against the run, and get after the QB. I think the SDE is here to stay at Texas.
Here's another name to keep an eye on for Junior Days: 2013 DE Reggie Chevis of Sharpstown. The first time I had heard of him was back in September when Recruitocosm did an interview. He's good friends with 2013 DE Deon Hollins, Jr. His highlights are in the linked article. Quick and loves to hit.

Excellent news for Tips/ Eric's boy.
It sounds like the 2013 Texas RB recruiting will be interesting. Keith Ford and James White are yet to receive a Junior Day invitation. Today, Hamilton mentioned in a thread that Texas is recruiting OOS in 2013 at RB in 2013 and looking West and North. He mentioned a Denver running back by name. A good development in my opinion. There are a few areas in the Southeast where Texas could have some recruiting success (Mississippi JUCOs, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky) but states to the West and North are wide open.
Isnt there a badass RB from Arkansas that our 2012 guys camped with???
The word is that Akina told the Harris' that making the 3 day summer camp is more important. Particularly with his recent visit.
I had read that as well but never found the original quote. It's a bit much for them to fly to Texas twice in two months. If he's committed to that summer camp where all of the other commitments will be, that's solid. Great timing if he wants to make a decision before his senior season.

Here's the Colorado RB he mentioned, but there were no details if Texas has reached out yet. I imagine they have if he's being talked about.
RB, Shahid Hoover, Denver East (Denver, CO) (5-10, 180)

That's him. GH called him a poor man's Michael Dyer. That will work.
Add Josh Thomas to the First Junior Day list.
Even better news on 2013 OL/DL Jake Raulerson. He's had a change of plans and will visit Texas THIS weekend instead of next. Smart move by the coaches if they were the ones who pushed him to come down earlier so he could spend time with several of the 2012 commitments. He became friends with a couple of those guys after the J5 summer camp (especially RB Johnathan Gray). Hopefully the coaches give him a chance to commit this weekend and UT starts off the 2013 class in a big way.
Never say never. ATH Daje Johnson of Pflugerville Hendrickson will be taking an official visit to Texas soon. No date has been given. It's hard to tell right now if this move can be viewed as the staff feeling less confident about landing DGB or it's a replacement for WR Thomas Johnson. I hope it's the latter. Even Daje himself has said he's been expecting a call since TJ decommitted.
Did you talk to him, Bill? Can't find this anywhere.
Daje's official visit to UT will be January 28th and he said the coaching staff reached out to him today. Pretty telling where this one is going since the two parties have had basically zero contact since November, the visit was scheduled in a matter of hours and Daje was just saying last week that he probably wouldn't visit Texas if they called.
I saw it on Orangebloods. Link: http://texas.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?...&mid=169351514
