We lost by 2....? It was obviously winnable lmao.

Replace Splitter with Duncan and I think our role players still lose the game for us. I don't really see what Duncan would have done those last few minutes that Tiago wasn't doing.
Someone might have actually passed him the ing ball in the post. I dunno, though.

    You replace Bonner with Duncan.

    You replace Jefferson with Kawhi.

Pop needs to get his together.

Ehh, I actually thought they played with great energy and made things tough. Not amazing d, but very solid.
Sacto plays sloppy and loose with the ball. They're expected to take dumb shots, make bonehead plays and turn the ball over. Splitter did well on Cousins a few times, but there wasn't anyone else on the floor who could matchup 1v1. Green was playing 8 feet off Tyreke because he knew he'd be taken off the dribble otherwise.

Well that wasn't the question I was asked but I think we all pretty much agree with this.

I don't blame Pop for not playing Duncan(after accepting the fact that Duncan-Splitter together wasn't an option for him)..Splitter did his job well..

Having RJ on the court is questionable, though..

I didn't like Pop's last playcall, especially to Danny Green, although it was a pretty decent look..

Spurs' players choked down the stretch, they had sufficient enough of a lead to assume they would close the game out..

More importantly, a better effort in the 1st wins the game, easily..

Who are you talking about ?
Cory Joseph. The Spurs seem to think that guys get better sitting around watching other people play basketball, punish them for making mistakes, then trade them or let them leave for nothing. Norris Cole has got to be thanking his personal god that Miami moved up to take him.

You can't give a good team a big early lead and expect to win, and you sometimes can't even give a bad team a big early lead and recover from it.

    RJ: 2-8
    Green: 4-11
    Neal: 3-12

Guarantee 75% of these shots were wide ass open . This is where these games are lost.

Why not play both and Leonard? What is it that was lost by not putting your best players on the floor?

Why does Pop continuously do like this?

For once, we get our Splitter request, yet he goes and shoves RJ in there for most of crunch time and he s the bed as usual....

Neal sucks , but we honestly have no other option BUT Neal right now, but Leonard at least gives you rebounds and defense

Do you really think Leonard would have let Cousins rip that ball away from him when we were up 6 with 2:30 to go?

In close game you go with the best you have. Splitter played good, but Duncan is way better. I dont say Duncan would score points, defend paint that Thiago couldnt. He would do same, but his presence would benefit everyone in team. Dont think guys out there, react the same when they play with Duncan or Splitter.

God, put Duncan and Splitter together. Defend the paint, secure rebounds of missed jumpers, set play or give one of them to post up. Old Spurs basketball. Defense and deadly set plays. No Manu to help, but they were Sacramento Kings, not Miami.

Well that sucked, nut whatever, it was nice to see Splitter get a lot of playing time.

    Hopefully the trend continues tomorrow.

So we roll with those guys to close the game when Duncan is sitting on the bench being 4-8...

Up 4, at home, 2:30 to go...

That's all I asked for... especially when RJ switches on Evans who is 10-19 out there... why not throw a trap or a double on Evans and have somebody else beat us? Pop used to do that all the time when he actually gave a about winning...

yeah, I was like, wtf, when Spurs drafted freshmen PG in 1 st round. And know this guy is in doghouse for 2 years at least, or Toros.

I am not a pop hater but it was very obvious Jefferson was extraordinarily shaky the entire game. He did not want the ball. He hid from the ball, tried to make himself unavailable on a couple of possessions. Cant play 4 on 5 on the offensive end. He took a few good charges, etc... but jesus, he did not want anything to do with the ball, not even as a conduit to get out of trouble.

BTW, I'm not saying we would assuredly won the game if Tim and Leonard are out there... but you can't tell me with a straight face that the lineup that closed that game was the best we have

Why are people coming at me saying that Duncan and Splitter should have been in the game together lmao.

I thought it was pretty much general consensus on this board that everyone agrees with that sentiment. Continuing to argue about that is beyond re ed and is just spinning your wheels. Obviously it isn't going to happen so I was excluding that idea and going with the next. I saw nothing that Duncan would have changed those last 3 minutes if he were in the game instead of Tiago.

Of course I would rather them both be in at the same time... (Do I even have to say this)

Yeah, I was unlucky to turn this game on, when RJ stayed , wide open for 3 sec, and didnt shot. I thought - mhm, not good.

20% from distance at home while resting starters is not going to get it done. This loss is on the 3pt shooters, all of them. If you can't can 1/3 at home from long range, then you don't deserve to win.

We know he is not an NBA pg yet, maybe never. Neal is actually better with the ball than Joseph right now and thats pretty awful. You dont expect to lose two guys that can both play point (manu and Tj)

I'm not here to rub salt into wounds, or, to redden any asses. Just wanted to stop in and check some balloon knots.

    I'll go back downstairs now.

    Chow!
