Sure, I think every first round draft pick should be given one or two minutes at a time until he s up, because "pick 29 is always a gamble", and then when he's got 70 total minutes, he should be given up on and sit on the bench until the end of his rookie contract regardless of the fact that there's only one other point guard on the roster that's healthy at the moment. Sacrificing Gary Neal by trying to turn him into Roger Mason is much better than just trying to play him. God knows the Spurs' philosophy of having young players playing in fear of being pulled at the first mistake has been endlessly successful for the team.

It's really great that you decided what Joseph was on draft night, and don't seem to want him to even get a chance to prove you wrong. Maybe he'll get hit by a bus or something so we never have to find out for sure.
He can give me a chance to be wrong while at the Toros. In a close game like tonight, thats how to destroy confidence. A blowout or early in a game let him show you what he has, which we did, and had to sit him.

You can only develop so many young players at one time. I don't have a problem with Cory Joseph and James Anderson sitting the bench.

    Ok smart ass.

Why do we even have the Toros? What is the D-league? What does the D stand for? done?

And its really great that YOU can be a critic of pop, but not his draft choices. Especially since you watched Joseph play at Texas.

Obviously you think it stands for "draft". Since nobody the Spurs have sent down there to "develop" has managed to find anything but the "door", I'm unsure why you think it's such a valuable tool for them. I'm pretty glad that there was no D league when Parker was drafted, since he was younger than Joseph and also made mistakes.

He has a point though... as far as the Toros is concerned, and up to this day, basically Dany Green is the only rotation player the Spurs have been able to 'develop', and I would say it's pretty early to say without a doubt he's going to make it in the NBA.

Parker had already played as a professional for a couple of years and was as faster than almost anyone in the league. And I never said it was a valuable tool. YOU did. But at least the kid can play against men and not kids.

    but nice try.

Why does the NBA have a D league?

I'm perfectly happy to criticize the draft choices, but I'd like to, you know, see them play in the pros before doing so.

Again, it's really really great that you came into this argument with your mind already made up, and I know it's really important that you say anything, no matter how illogical, to try to support that opinion because your credibility on a sports message board is at stake.

As for me, I'd like to see young players that the Spurs seemed to like enough to waste a draft pick on actually give them NBA minutes before I pass judgment on the pick itself. I'm still puzzled by why any Spur fan would disagree with that idea.

The Spurs lost the game tonight and Tony Parker got 40 minutes. Not giving Joseph a chance to play through a rough patch doesn't really seem like it was worth it.

I'm watching a replay of the game right now and the Spurs are getting crushed in the first quarter and Joseph hasn't even seen the floor yet.

um..lol? I don't think it's remotely valuable. You're the one who wanted him there on draft night, and you're desperate to manufacture any excuse to get him there so you can say how smart you are when it comes to UT basketball, I guess.

    That is the dilemma.

Its put him in NBA games and possibly destroy his confidence or let him play against men and not boys in an inferior league. I personally believe confidence is a huge part of marginal players making the NBA. That my opinion. so the dilemma.

My opinion is "not yet", even though we could use him if he can actually carry out the role.

Dont play word games. You used the phrase valuable tool. And I did not even want him in the draft. Please read my posts or lets not discuss this. I dont like playing little boy games.

And the exact quote was "I'm unsure why you think it's such a valuable tool for them." That was the first time it was used. How is that a word game, exactly?

You've wanted Joseph to go to the D League since he was drafted. Obviously you think it has some value that actual NBA game minutes do not.

Yes, you've made that position very clear. It doesn't really need to be repeated. I read every post you had in the CJ thread from draft night BEFORE I responded to your lunacy. Like I said, it was crystal clear from that point that you didn't like the pick and were ready to put all your Longhorn knowledge on display for everyone, and you're a slave to that position since you still don't want CJ getting minutes even though there's a serious injury problem with the team and he's the only one on the roster with the skillset to help with it.

Please discuss the basketball part of this or don't bother posting. If anyone's playing games it's you, and frankly you suck at it.

I'm noticing more consensus on major Spurs issues amongst the ST forum than ever before.

My lunacy? Desperate, slave, are we a little excited? The wimp that questions every Popovich move claims I put MY knowlege on display. Good god.

    Have a good night diva.

Love the fact that Parker is calling out three point shooters on his team. In the post game interview.

Don't know why you bother hanging out on a basketball message board if you won't talk basketball. Yes, you're a slave to your opinions if you stick to them and can't back them up or if you think ~65 minutes is enough time to declare a first round pick a bust just because you declared him a bust six months ago. Yes, you're desperate to be right about that opinion if you don't want Joseph getting minutes when TJ Ford and Manu Ginobili are hurt and Tony Parker's racking up 40 minutes in losses.

    lol

Yes, but you live by that three you will die by it in the end. Glad they are cold now sides in April or May. I still hate the Spurs team that plays little D and relies on threes to win, thats when it got bad IMO. Last year they connected early and often and got off to a fast start, later on naw.

It was inevitable. Last year they caught teams by surprise with they're 3pt happy offense. Teams figured it out and realized all they had to do was defend the 3 better to win.
