TC & amare ain't good stocks for a rebuilding team imho.
I'm talking to the thread le... why would the Knicks do that when the problem is Pringles?
TC & amare ain't good stocks for a rebuilding team imho.
NY is terrible. It's like the people in charge have never even seen a basketball game. Anyone who has watched a game featuring any of their "big 3" could've guessed they'd suck together. But Amare and Chandler is probably the best offer they're gonna get for Howard
Never noticed that before.![]()
I don't get why everyone thinks NY should pull the trigger on this deal. They would then be Carmelo, DH12, and 10 incredibly ty players with no way to sign a decent 3rd guy until the summer of 2014. Just get D'Antoni the out of there and sign someone not completely awful to play point with the mini-MLE next season and they'll be fine.
NY hasn't worried about being "fine" for a long time. They want to be in the media.
ROI is higher on Dwight. From a business perspective its a good move.
Knicks would still suck because Carmelo Anthony in sucks.. Most over-rated stat stuffer in the game..
LOL not happening ...
Though Amare has Florida roots his body is more of a time-bomb than Bynum's
he doesnt wanna goto LA cause he doesnt wanna be 2nd option
so whats the difference if he goes to the knicks with carmelo the ball hog
Clear something up for me, the wife and i were disagreeing about this last night (yes, the wife likes ball. how awesome is that?)
she says amare went to NY due to ego. I said, yes, he's egotistical, but would have stayed in PHX if they offered him the max.
Who's right?
...and if NYC knew what was good for them, they should be offering melo + chandler, not amare.
He can grab offensive rebounds when Kobe bricks and dunk it back in
If the Knicks can't win with two super-stars and a defensive stopper in their starting line-up, what would it matter to get Howard? Yeah, a Howard & Turiaf front-court sounds dominant, Howard would NEVER have to play help defense.

Tyson Chandler and the Mavs' response

Doesn't that homeless guy turiaf play for the warriors now?
You're 100% right. The Knicks offered him a 5 year $99,000,000 deal, and he went back to the Suns and said he'd stay in Phoenix for 5 years $92,000,000. The Suns offered it but the final 2 years were non-guaranteed, so the Knicks were offering him $40,000,000 more guaranteed than the Suns were. This isn't a rumor or anything, it's what happened.
There is a rumor that Kerr had a 5 year, $90,000,000 extension that would have kept him off the open market he was actually faxing to Amare's agent when Sarver told him not to and screamed at him about. That is what some people think convinced Kerr he better get out before hits the fan.
With Amare's uninsurable knees there ain't no way Orlando's doing that trade and that's not even counting Chandler's long ass contract.
I think Baseline is wise beyond his years ... Cuban may also have hit the nail on the head, and proved it last year quality depth trumps teams that are "top" heavy (still think he made a mistake on breaking up his squad) Going the Big 3 route might not be wise. Sure it looks good for the heat but they have the most dominant player in the game. The other BIG 3 type teams are not doing so well ...(Lakers, Knicks, Celts) and the deep teams like the Bulls, Clips, Denver Blazers have played well for the most part.
There are plenty of Bibby`s, Baron`s and other ring s, that would love to play in NY with Melo and Dwight.
If I were Dwight, and I want to play in NY, I would prefer to play with Deron Williams rather then Carmelo.
The problem is Carmelo. Its hard to establish a half-court offense with him. He needs to dominate the ball for long periods of time to get his offense going. He doesn't play well off the ball because he's heavy and doesn't move well. He takes low percentage shots which puts his teams out of rhythm offensively. Plus, he's not a good fit with Amare. Honestly, Melo's not a good fit with anyone. He played with talented teams in Denver and only advanced out of the 1st round once and Billups was the biggest reason why.
Really, Amare and Melo are a bad fit together. Chandler's been great so far.
Letting Billups go for nothing was a dumb move tbh. At least from the bball pov. The trio of Billups, 'Melo and Howard would have been very well balanced against the Heat's big 3. It's not clear how could the Knicks add another all-star player after trading for Howard.
