"It's just the epitome of stupidity that we would allow ourselves to be used so other corporations can make tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars. There's some guys sitting at the Olympic headquarters going, 'Those dumb-asses, we're taking all their best guys for nothing.' " - Mark Cuban, ESPN.com

I have to agree. At the very least, the U.S. needs stop trying again. They proved that as long as they practice a couple times, they can curbstomp the world. What's the point now?

Restrict international compe ion to players 21 and younger and all problems are solved, tbh.

Having pros play is stupid, but most all the young players outside the US are technically pros.

I'm all for sending college kids again. Sure they won't win, but it's another way they can help own prospects. Millionaires playing in the Olympics never seems right.

Vengeance for '72 has long since been sated.

Now it's just about $. But, they'll need Media to end the siege.

    That'll never happen.

    I can already see it.

NBA billonaire owners trying to convince the media that they should convince the public that sending NBA milloinaires to represent their country is not cool.

    That will surely work.

We could send just college players like the old days, beat Greece by 20+ and still be able to get at least Silver.

& forsake the gold mine that was inadvertently uncovered via the '72 abortion?

Collins didn't leave his Silver Medal in a Swiss vault for nothing.

IA but it won't work, the olympics are too enticing to even the superstars. Those n!ggers just want to win gold models so they can melt them down and make grills.

It's not just the olympics Cubans is opposed to. It's more like every kind of international play involving NBA players.

Considering for instance that something like 30 % of NBA jerseys are sold outside of the US it would be wise for the NBA to not follow Cuban's advice. Does anyone think that Kobe's jersey would sell like they do in China if he hadn't gone there for the 2008 Olympics?

It's bull though... that's like Goldman Sachs mandating their top execs can't snort coke during their summer vacations... sure, the drug dealer is making the big bucks and the damage will probably hurt Goldamn long term, but it's entirely the exec decision here on what to do with his free time...

If the players want to do it more power to them. They are the ones who will suffer the most if they hurt themselves or tire themselves out for the next season. If an owner does not want his investment in a player risked in the Olympics than he should have that written into their contract.
