You know an opposing team's scout's first thoughts when they watch our team is "I'm really glad Tiago doesn't play 30 MPG".
Actually they're probably thinking more along the lines of, "What could we offer the Spurs so Tiago could come here and be an instant 20-12 guy/All-star starter in 30 minutes per game instead of coming off their bench?"

Missed the 2nd half, nice to see we got a blow out win. Splitter is definitely continuing to impress, especially with his FG% (but law of averages to hit soon?) Either way hes playing smart on offense so shouldn't hurt us when his FG% normalizes to about 55%.

Speaking of the law of averages, Bonner was due for a game like this.

Am I crazy or did Leonard's activity level pick up when Thomas was in with him in garbage time?

Any game we win while Manu and Ford are out--especially by a large margin--is a plus game for Pop.

I wouldn't be so nit-picking about his subs utions or minutes. They worked. And you have to expect Parker to play a lot of minutes when his backup is a rookie who is just learning the game. You wouldn't have Splitter tearing things up offensively if Parker wasn't working with him so well.

Having the vet in there was insurance to keep things on track is a good decision when the other players are also a rookie and a couple of second year guys like Green and Neal.

Grade A- for keeping it all together under difficult cir stances.

In the 2nd half I liked how Pop actually split up Duncan and Parker, so that Duncan was playing with Joseph and Green (and presumably making their jobs a little easier by being the focus of the offense) and then putting Parker and Splitter in while Duncan sat. Smart way to keep the offensive pressure constant.
Of course it helped that ATL doesn't have a massive frontcourt, and that the young guns were bringing their A games last night.

    Matt Bonner A-
When Matt Bonner gets hot, he makes it almost impossible to beat the Spurs. Tonight, he made the Hawks pay for any daylight by knocking down five three-pointers. When Atlanta started to concentrate on him, other players got wide open looks. Defensively, Bonner held Josh Smith in check -- which is no small task. All in all, this was Bonner's best game of the season.

Yah, Pop playing a worn out Tony that late in the 4th made little sense to me too.

I don't see how playing Neal and Cory at the same time would have hurt.

Yeah. It was a joke. He was pretending to try to stand up and Pop was standing there pushing down on his chest.

What was really funny was Thomas' reaction. He was sitting next to Tim when he got the call. He started to get up, then looked over in a startled way at Tim not realizing Tim was just pretending to get up, then saw Pop pushing Tim in the chest and got the joke. Thomas snapped his head around as he was getting up, and waited until his back was to Pop before letting a grin come over his face.

    Thanks for the grades Timvp.

There was not much to complain about in this game. Spurs got the W, Tim and Tony weren't required to turn it up another level in the fourth, Tiago continued to impress and even Thomas got to play!

I seemed to pay most of my attention to when Thomas entered in the final minutes of the game. The one bad thing I can say about the game is somewhere in the last four minutes (I didn't rewatch it to get the exact time) Thomas was in with Anderson and the reserves. Spurs were on D and Thomas was defending his man near the 3 point line and the shot clock was winding down. Anderson had interior position and then all of a sudden lost position and his man gained the rebound when it should have been a turnover. I think the Spurs ended up getting the turnover anyway because of the shot clock but Anderson failed to box his man out. Anyway, that is nitpicking and I'm sure if we look hard enough we will find an assignment or task that was missed by everyone. Good game all around and good decisions by Pop in spreading minutes around.

Danny Green with his style of play and at ude remind me poor man young Stephen Jackson as what he was for us almost decade ago.
