So?
Timmy Duncs
Parker
Soft
Splitter etc on the bench.
No game tommorow.

You realize with the condensed schedule there are no team practices right? The next Spurs practice will probably be in late february and there last full practice was probably before the season started.
They complain when they're in, they complain when they're out.
The bench deserved a rest after playing their hearts out last night. Blair deserved a rest because he didn't deserve any more playing time tonight.
This forum needs a +1 feature.
It all depends on the situation.
Yesterday, there were two instances (during timeouts late in the 4th quarter and late in overtime) where Parker clearly should have been re-inserted, because it was obvious that they were going to struggle mightily to execute.
Today, the starters shouldn't have been in late. People talk about games like yesterday "building confidence for the bench", but if he had that much confidence in them, what were they doing not playing down the stretch in a blowout? As if he couldn't have put the starters back in if it began to get close. And if he's maniacally concerned with managing minutes, then why did four starters clear 30 minutes and Parker play almost 40 in a game that they controlled throughout? He's got no problem risking losing a close game to buy key players a quick break at an inopportune time, yet he runs those same players into the ground in a blowout. I don't get it.
again, so? What was the problem with that? You cannot play the bench the entire game, and they were bleeding points for awhile. It does no good to rest people if they are going to need the bench to bail them out anyhow, might as well rest the bench.
These guys are athletes, and they are playing what, 40 minutes of ball? Big deal.
I thought tp should have been pulled earlier in the 4
he looked tired
That unit's pretty much the worst one, as evidenced by their giving up half of a 20 point lead in three minutes.
Pop was sending a message to Lionel Hollins for leaving his starters in
And then when Lionel subbed and Pop subbed, he left Parker in to close the game out to send a message to Parker
timvpBut while the Spurs did better when Duncan and Splitter were divided, that doesn't matter in the long run. For the Spurs to maximize their fading championship hopes, Duncan and Splitter need to learn how to work together.
I think it already has a sheep icon.
The schedule is all the more reason to mix up the playing time.
You do realize the Spurs history of back to backs with the geezers and high mileage (Parker)?
Along with being injury prone esp when tired.
Along with -why was the bench that kicked ass last night made to sit on it?
Minutes over the past 48 hours (Avg in parentheses)
Jefferson..74:45 (37:23)
Duncan....54:48 (27:24)
Blair.........37:11 (18:36)
Leonard....55.28 (27:44)
Parker......66.55 (33:38)
------------
Bonner.....53:25 (26:43)
Green.......59:28 (29:44)
Splitter.....41:08 (20:34)
Neal.........44:17 (22:09)
Looks about right to me with the exception of Splitter and Jefferson. (Jefferson's minutes are an indication of going small).

Duncan....54:48 (27:24) 27.2
Blair.........37:11 (18:36) 22.7
Leonard....55.28 (27:44) 24.5
Parker......66.55 (33:38) 33.2
------------
Bonner.....53:25 (26:43) 19.2
Green.......59:28 (29:44) 20.4
Splitter.....41:08 (20:34) 21.2
Neal.........44:17 (22:09) 20.3
Considering the overtime minutes and how he has shot the past 2 games (50% from the field and 50% from the arc), it's somewhat justifiable I guess.
Yes it's looking good.
The Strive for Five (and Six) looks right on schedule.

But I thought Parker was holding this team back with his inability to create for his teammates and execute down the stretch?![]()
Bonner playing almost as many minutes as Timmy??? I really don't like seeing that both ways. I wish Tim would play 30 a game, and I wish Boner was at like 20 while Splitter was around 25 or slightly more.
Overtime game. Bench + Richard.
