Also...it could be wrong to assume TJ will come back the same prior to injury. Would be great if that be the case...but...
TJ Ford was ballin' right before he got hurt. Can't wait to see this team as a whole again soon....

Ford and Manu are desperately needed since TP is handling all the play making. Hope both of these guys make it back soon.
the way his been playin this season, is he top25 pg in the league??...the games where we had to claw our way back from deficits with the bench, he seems to be doing a good job when pop throws in the white flag
I don't know if hes top 25, but he was definitely playing really well. To be fair, a lot of his minutes come against back-ups - so it's hard to say that hes necessarily on par with a starter from another team that is drawing tougher assignments. But he usually played very well regardless of who he was up against. The biggest evidence of that is the numberous games where Pop chose to play Ford and Parker together in crunch minutes late.
Spurs went from having two starting quality points and one player capable of playing spot duty point (Manu) to only one (Parker) a player they now have to rely on for scoring
Not surprised they are struggling-
if tj was still healthy he be a starter on other teams
but 1/4 of the league starting pgs are pure garbage anyway
as a backup TJ would be considered really damn good the way he started playing.
too bad for his injury, we might never know how good backup he could have been
Tiago: "Man, hurry back TJ, I need more touches in the paint..."
It was nice of TJ to grab that shirt out of the hamper just before that picture was snapped.
T.J. Ford (hamstring) is not close to a return.
Manu Ginobili (hand) is expected back well before Ford. "Hamstrings are a tricky thing," coach Gregg Popovich said. Jan 31 - 2:14 PM

Thats not surprising. Hamstrings have a tendancy to really be nagging injuries. If we rush him back he could end up in an even worse situation injury-wise.
True. At least Manu can help alleviate the pressure put on Parker. Hopefully Ford can be back by March. Really want him to make a case for himself to be brought back next season.
I think he already has.
Besides, Cory Joseph isn't exactly making a case for a permanent upgrade to the back-up spot.

Ford coming along: Backup point guard T.J. Ford, sidelined since suffering a torn left hamstring Jan. 10 at Milwaukee, has begun light on-court conditioning work during the Spurs’ time on the road.
Ford is progressing in his rehabilitation but isn’t expected back until after the All-Star break.
I don't think TJ's been healthy since like 06/07 so I wouldn't expect much from him. The dude is never reliable.
Was real skeptical of Ford's ability in 2012, but he's been a very nice surprise. He has played just about as well as anyone could have hoped for. At times, I was wanting Ford out there to close games instead of Parker. Better defense and pass-first.
+1
I think Ford should continue to play a prominent role from the bench when he returns.
The backcourt (1-2-3) should look like this IMO:
Ford & Manu should run the show from the 2nd unit.
Green/Neal as the spacers/shooters who can both add a little playmaking of their own. Add RJ to this mix when a little more size is needed. That should be the extent of soft 's role on the team IMO.
Yep Cory Joe/Smiley will be going back to the D-League which is good since he wasn't even getting time when Ford was out. Sad.......![]()
Not really. He wasn't supposed to play for the Spurs at all this season.
The Toros will have to break the logjam at the point when he goes back though.
Ford expected back after ASB: Spurs G T.J. Ford, who has been sidelined since Jan. 10 with a torn left hamstring, is expected to return sometime after the All-Star break, reports the San Antonio Express-News. According to the report, Ford has begun participating in light on-court conditioning drills.

Hamstring - Out until at least early March

Fantasy Analysis
Ford continues to make progress toward getting back on the court, but won't be back until sometime after the All-Star weekend. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his progress over the next few weeks to make sure he doesn't suffer any setbacks. However, Ford 's numbers have been nothing to write home about, so leave him on the waiver wire, even when he gets healthy.

Was going to post this as a separate thread, but I found this today. Seems like Ford has a couple more weeks before he's back. Hopefully he'll be able to contribute like he was before the injury and be able to help us make a playoff run.
“We’re hoping we’ll get T.J. back after the All-Star break, or maybe one or two games after the break,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “We think somewhere in there he’ll be ready to go.”
