Frankly? I hope the breaks his life.
Obviously he was not completely overlooked as he got invited to 8 teams camps. Got signed by Golden, got picked up by Houston then NYK.
However espn reports he was buried on the Knicks bench and about to be waived again.
89 points in his first three career starts, the most by any player since 1976.
Not to mention assists and overall game.
Knicks should trade Marshmellow Anthony.
To the point, how much do NBA coaches and scouts really know?
Here's a guy who was about to be cut. Matt Bonner has averaged 18 minutes a game in the playoffs.
Frankly? I hope the breaks his life.
He was given a shot and he shined but question should be how long will it last?
You guys got curb stomped...![]()
Hold on, let me check last night's scores...please stand by.

Yeah, yer okay. We got "curb stompled."
When an undrafted asian rookie drops 38 on your team...yea.![]()
This is true.
True that he dropped his 38 on some weak assed compe ion.
Tired old no defense bags Kerby and DSwisher.
Still, Lin looked great, has all around game.
I'm a trend setter.
I set trends.
He plays in a system that got quinten Richardson and Boris diaw crazy contracts. Anyone remember when the latter was supposed to be the "center of the future?"
Laughing at the meltdown at Clutchfans about how Morey was a dumbass for putting Lin on Waivers.![]()
Still way more than most. I think Lin is an interesting case of a player who might be a borderline NBA player talent-wise, but when he got his opportunity, he found himself in a perfect situation, in the right system, and has so far made the absolute most of it and has played out of his mind. This is probably the best he's shot the ball in his life, or up there at least. He's in an offensive system that really caters to his strengths. And the injury to Carmelo and the absence of Amare are two things that probably helped him shine immensely where he's been forced to be aggressive in looking to score. Just a really great situation for him to take advantage of, and he has taken full advantage of it.To the point, how much do NBA coaches and scouts really know?
And as for NBA scouts and GMs, the job of predicting how a player will translate to the NBA and how he will improve and develop certainly isn't a perfect science. There are intangibles Lin has shown that you can't measure. You can't always see or predict work ethic, desire to win, basketball IQ, not always anyway. Same thing happened with Ben Wallace, but it took the right situation and a real opportunity for him to find his niche in the NBA. Probably can say the same thing about Bruce Bowen or guys like Wes Matthews and Reggie Williams.
Just goes to show you, when you do get that one chance, that one opportunity, make the most of it.
Kill Bill Pana strikes again.![]()
A person might have a crazy game one night against a scrub team, but it's not a fluke when a guy has that kind of success for more than one or two games. He's got a good BB IQ for a rookie, and he's fearless. He's got skills and knows how to attack the defense.
I would keep riding him until he proved otherwise, but I think he's the real deal.
They get a lot more right than we as fans do. For every Lin they miss which is pretty rare, there are multiple James white's, Gerald Green's, Spanoulis's that fans like and aren't NBA players.
That's a double edged sword.
Either of those guys could have been productive on other teams. It's as much the fault of their respective teams' management as anything.
If a player can shine under a different system, he's a good player. It's not the player's fault that the new coaching system doesn't incorporate his strengths. That's for the coaches to figure out.
Or triple edged sword?
Most NBA head coaches have a system and have used it pretty much their entire coaching career, which has helped them get to where they are now. It's the GM's job to acquire players that will excel in that system. It's much harder to change a whole coaching philosophy over one player than to acquire another player that fits better. When you're talking about players that are specialists or are system players, and not players that are the type of talent that will succeed in any system, I think it's more on the GM than the coach and coaching system to find those players that fit.
It could even be a mace.
That's why I said team management. A player doesn't acquire himself.
