Chapter Ten.
"Thank you, for a wonderful evening, BUMP. You are so nice to me. You did everything I wanted and asked for. And some things I didn't ask for." Her giggle unmistakable. I'm so sleepy though, I can't keep my eyes open." BUMP had tidied them both up and they were now cuddled deep in the blankets, Jillian held closely in BUMP's arms.
"You'll be here when I waken, won't you, BUMP?"
"Yes, I promise, Jill."
"BUMP, what is your real name?"
"Alec."
"I like that name a lot. Good night, BUMP."
BUMP laughed softly, kissed her lightly on the forehead and Jillian fell fast asleep.
Soon after the dark curtain started to fall for BUMP as well. And per the usual since last Summer he was pleased that the crash of white light interceded. It had on many nights since then. The brilliant light of his hero, Dirk Nowitski, rising out of the depths of utter despair, and manmade calamity, slaying all their dragons, all their enemies, as if in Arthurian Legend---Lancelot carried forth the day, one final time.
And as the white light began to fail, and the darkness fall again, he saw her there in the shadows. Jillian, and she was smiling and happy for him. And he saw something else there in her smile and in her eyes, a boundless light.
And the chance of love.
