Would be interesting to see how he does with Andre, Foster, and that defense. Although I think if the Texans had Schaub for the entire season, things might have turned out much differently. If I were the Texans, I would just roll with Schaub.
FWIW. Not saying he is definitely interested, but it intrigues the mind.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...or-the-texans/As the calendar continues to move toward March 8, the date by which the Colts must either pay Peyton Manning $28 million or cut him loose, reports and theories continue to emerge.
Here’s the latest, from Bob Allen of KTRK-TV in Houston: “Someone I know who is close friends with the Manning family says Peyton is definitely interested in possibly coming to the Texans. Peyton will be released by the Colts early next month and will be a free agent. The person who knows the Mannings says Peyton wants to play on a team that has a chance of going to a Super Bowl, and the Texans fit that description.”
Though the Texans have a quarterback, a healthy Peyton Manning would be a clear upgrade over Matt Schaub. With that defense and that running game and those receivers, the Texans would be a championship-caliber team with Manning under center.
Before that would happen, Manning would have to be willing to put his Indianapolis legacy at risk, given that he’d be playing the Colts twice in 2012. And the Texans would have to be willing to sit Schaub down and/or send Schaub packing.
But the Texans are one of the few teams with which Manning could legitimately chase a Super Bowl in 2012. And if Peyton hopes to match Eli’s pair of Super Bowl les, the Texans could give Peyton the best chance of getting it done in 2012.

Manning should really target places like San Fransico, Baltimore, or NYJ. I think he could be the missing piece that could put all three right into the Super Bowl.
Problem is those teams are only a player here or there from a le so investing money into a guy who will probably start the season on the bench...is tough to envision
Niners have enough money to sign both Smith & Peyton but I rather have to lock up the best defense in football
jets. Why in the world would Manning go there over Houston?
Unless you have the 2001 ravens d or 2003 tampa d (niners dont), the 49ers arent winning a superbowl with a game managing qb.
I think the Jets make sense too for a couple reasons. Not only are they a good team who would have a chance to win a Superbowl with the addition of Manning, but he'd also be in the New York market with his brother, which would probably be an marketing dream. And he the only way he meets his brother in the playoffs is in the Superbowl. And beyond that, 2 games a year against Brady and the Patriots.
But Houston is probably a good situation for him too. Great defense (arguably top 3 defense in the league), a great run game, and Andre Johnson. And he goes back to the south closer to home. I think Houston makes sense on some levels too.
That would be some Twilight Zone given all the fits Peyton's Colts gave the Texans. The Rosencopter Incident will forever live in infamy.
Which QB had a superior postseason?

2.2 TDs/Game
0.25 INT/Game
309 Yds/Game
25 PTs/Game
Quarterback B
3.0 TD's/Game - Check
No Interceptions - Check
285 Yds/Game
26 PTs/Game - Check

Agreed. No one is even sure if Manning will even be able to fully regain his pre-injury form. He would also have to change the offense to accommodate Manning as Kubiak's roll out WCO doesn't really fit Manning's style. There is also the fact that they would have to decide to sign him before even knowing if he can make it all the way back. Pretty big crapshoot for a team that had so much success last season with a third string QB.
No thanks.
QB A Winning Percentage 2011
65%
QB B Winning Percentage 2011
77%
LOL @ game manager. Turn off ESPN already
Shot down pretty quick in Houston

He should play for Dallas. I think he'd be a perfect fit there.
Dallas will only waste his talent like they are wasting Romos.
How's that? Peyton would utilize those young beast receivers more than Romo ever could.
tbh Dallas is the one team where Fabbs' famous late-relief QB system would work. Have Tony tear it up for 3 quarters then put the backup in before he throws it all away.![]()
oh, and Peyton should surprise everybody and go to Buffalo. One playoff appearance will get his # retired.
Report: Irsay to meet with Manning in next week
colts want to resture his contract

The problem is no one knows where Schaub is with his injury now, or if he'll be ready by the start of the season. Imo, I think the injury will cause him to be even less mobile than he is already, with the playaction stuff and whatnot. Not sayin Peyton is mobile at all, but if the play's not there, just audible and hand it off to Foster. Schaub NEVER audibles.
Definitely, even Peyton at 60% is better than most QB's in the league. Sign Peyton to an incentive laden deal. Schaub is a good QB, but I just don't trust him with the game on the line. Trade Schaub for some picks, will fetch some good ones, and possibly draft Justin Blackmon.
Schaub is not guaranteed to be his old self either. At least with Peyton you have a higher upside, and a motivated Peyton with everything to prove. The roll out, Peyton won't have a problem with.
John Mcclain is easily the WORST sports writer, or allegedly beat writer with inside info in Houston. This is the same guy who said the Texans' wouldn't sign any significant free agents last summer and wouldn't have the money to do so. The team restructured alot of contracts and signed Manning and Joseph.
what's the point if the defense is just going to give up 12 points in 4 minutes. it really would be no different than the defense the colts have pitched out the past seasons.
Neck injury/nerves in the throwing arm...ankle injury. One of these things is something different. There is also the fact that one is already on the roster and the other you are going to have to pay. What kind of money are they looking at? What will the Texans have to give up on the currently constructed roster in order to get him? You willing to let Mario and Chris Myers walk? No deal for Arian Foster? No extension for Duane Brown?
It's an awful lot of potential losses to take a flyer on a great player who might only be average after he fully heals...whenever that is.
