cooking and cleaning...isnt that a womans job?

I'm thinking of getting a bigger monitor for my desktop. The one I have now still does the job and has built in speakers, but I have a set of those as well.
I was thinking about getting a tv tuner, putting it in my kitchen with my monitor and the hdmi-dvi cable I purchased for $3 and turning this monitor into a small TV so I can watch Spurs games while I'm cooking and cleaning the kitchen. I tried the monitor out already on my cable box and even played a quick online match on MW3 and the picture is amazing (about as good as my 32").
Any suggestions or things I should be looking for when making a purchase?
I've seen a few that were actually quite cheap, but I don't know much about them so I don't want to dive into a purchase without some knowledge.

If there's no woman (aka single dad) then no.
I figure that buying the tuner will be much cheaper than getting a small TV (the tuners I saw were under $100) and my ex mother in law just told me she still has her monitor from her desktop that she had (which didn't get much use, is newer than my monitor and is bigger than my current one IIRC) so it can be had for cheap because she still likes me.
Take the two together and you still pay less than a new TV.
They normally work ok... depends on the level of the signal you're getting. You can try some old rabbit ears if you want, or you might need to add some money for an antenna. If you buy it walmart or so, and it doesn't work, you can always return it.
I have an old flat screen monitor(27in) sitting in my garage collecting dust.(square too lol) Never had use for it since going to laptops. I will wait for some responses. Haven't look at tuners in a while tbh.. do they still make only monitors? Isn't just adding a tv tuner a given...since most tvs are pc compatible.
Computer monitors still have better resolutions, some higher than 1080p. So yeah, they still make stand alone monitors. My monitor is 1440x900 (6 yr old monitor) that still looks beautiful. Can handle 720p.
I guess what I mean is why not stick a tuner in every monitor. So that way the monitor can have a nice retirement in any town usa

You really want something that is a computer monitor first, and can double as a TV...
Samsung makes the best ones. They are not cheap, but neither are TV tuners, unless you have an HDMI input on your existing monitor.
Got an HDMI to DVI cable plus audio cables.
