More excuses. A healthy (or quasi-healthy Peyton) makes you contenders RIGHT NOW, regardless of the D. That's what great QB's do. Look at the bad teams Peyton's dragged to 12-13 wins every year. Look at the dog Brady dragged to the SB this year. He had a great TE, a good one, a white slot receiver, and 0 vertical threats or running game--and an atrocious defense. Rodgers weathered half his team on IR last year and won 15 games this year with the 32nd ranked defense and injuries to both starting OT's. Brees carries that team every year with a defense that gives up everything. Eli kept his team afloat this year through injury, and won in New England with guys like Ramses Barden catching passes.
Romo has a top 5 TE, 2 nasty starting WR's, a damn good 3WR in Robinson, and 2 good RB's. He also has the premier pass rusher on his defense, as well as good players like Ratliff and Lee. Not a good defense, but not GB-bad either.
What did the secondary have to do with 2 pick-sixes against the Lions (and a 3rd-pick that set-up the game winner)? What did the secondary have to do with fumbling at the Jet goal line when all you needed was a fg, then handing them the game when you throw it RIGHT AT THE BEST CB in football?
The defense cost them the 1st Giant game no doubt, but how do you miss a wide-open Miles Austin when he's 5-yards beyond the defender? He doesn't up any one of those plays and chances are Cowboys make the playoffs.
Keep chugging, and by the time the Cowboys
finally get all those pieces you want I'm sure Tony will cease to make bad decisions that cost his team games.
