Spanking is just like a gun. Not everyone knows how to use it. But you shouldn't be able to take it away from those that are responsible with it.

Oh and there's a difference between spankings and beatings.
I still have a vivid memory of my mom spanking me inside of Piggly Wiggly, right there in the aisle. Let's just say it never happened again.

My mom meant business, all she had to do was raise her hand and we would behave.

See, and that's pretty much the point of spankings. Again, I'm speaking of spankings not beatings. I remember various ass whoopin's but I deserved them. I was an only child for 8 years and boy was I . My Mom tells me of a time I didn't get my way and I threw myself down in the aisle in the middle of some store and cried my eyes out and screamed at the top of my lungs. I'm sure my ass was lit up from that one. No, I'm not "scarred" nor did I get or need any sort of therapy over it. Again, I was spanked and not beat. To be physically bruised is crossing the line and doesn't need to be lumped with spankings.

I've spanked my kids. I was harder on the oldest and while we've had some trouble in her later years she is doing well and getting ready to head off to college. I was way easier on my youngest and didn't spank and now she is in alternative school. Go figure.

I learned early on that just the threat of the spanking was all that was necessary. I had a plastic spatula that the mere sight of would pretty much avert any difficulties; without a word, I'd place it in the car and my kids decided for themselves there'd be no nonsense on this trip

    A spatula??

It was just belt or hand for me. Boy, I remember when I caught the belt with my hand. I also remember my grandmother's palo. Boy was she vicious with that thing. Not on me but with my cousins. She never had to hit me. I was an angel

"I will your kids up. You ain't got to fill out no applications, the first 3 months free. You don't need no hidden videos around the house to see what the is going on. Cause when you come to pick your kid up. I'm gonna look you in the eye and tell you what the is going on. When you come to pick your kid up and he's got a knot on the corner of his head. And you say what happened to my son, I'm gonna tell you. I took a hammer and slapped the out of him."

I have never spanked my daughter, she is almost 7. Have never felt the need to. It was never too much of a deterrent for me when I was a kid.
either your daughter never needed a spanking or you've sacrificed discipline so you can have a more friendly relationship with her which is re ed

An actual fix would be to say some parents need to hit something, and it's often a kid.
the actual act of spanking isn't needed, it's just the most effective way. If you can think of a better way when groundings/time outs or taking their stuff away doesn't work then please share

My eight year old boy is easy to raise. Caring, straight A's, good in karate, loves tennis and never been spanked; or even threatened with it. Beating the crap out of kid just proves the larger can push around the smaller.
typical modern bull . Take a perfect form of discipline that's been around forever and make it out to be a bigger deal than it actually is. When the did I say "beating the crap out of a kid?"

Hitting a person that trust you implicitly, and is the most vulnerable and most destroyed by being hit, seems like a bad idea.
If you think you're ruining the trust of a kid by spanking them after they do wrong then you're underestimating the intelligence of the kid. When I got spanked I wasn't thinking "why are my parents hitting me?! I thought I could trust them!" like I'm some clueless ing dog. I knew they were pissed for a reason that I caused

We'd buy my mom new slippers for Mother's Day, Xmas, etc.., knowing damn well we'd get hit with those things.

You gotta do what you feel works best for your children. I know that I'm guilty of seeing a child throw a tantrum in public and thinking to myself, "that kids needs a spankin." or "why doesn't that parent take control?".

I agree.. It's even worse when you're standing in line at a store and they're right in front of you.

Deuteronomy 21:18-21 says "If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid."

Talk to your children, help them understand what is right and wrong, lead by example, discipline them if needed but no spanking. If this does not work then society will take care of them. Kids need love not fist.

    God bless you all.
