Awesome, thanks!
WTF is Popo looking like that for? Did he jump into a hot tub before the interview? Disgusting slob.
It's disappointing that Ginobili isn't in better shape.
A hand injury doesn't limit conditioning work. It's not normal that he is that tired right now. He should have work harder during his time off and be in great shape right now even if being rusty would have been logical.
Is this the first practice since the season started? crazy if so.
I can't honestly fault him too much. I'm not an expert or anything but I'm pretty sure you can't resume physical activity like running until a few weeks after getting rods inserted into your hand. And you have no idea what he was doing before that interview; he could have just finished a short round of sprints for all we know. JMO...
Idunno...gotta consider that he never really had a chance to get into game shape in the first place. He was able to play what....5 games? 7 counting preseason?
Right now, he's probably behind where everybody else was to start the season, and even when he gets to that point, he'll still have catching up to do. It's said all the time, but all the cardio and conditioning in the world won't compare to spending minutes out on the court.
I'm not blaming him for not being sharp on the court or not shooting the ball well because it's logical but he shouldn't be that tired. Cardio and conditioning is enough to work on your motor and on your endurance. Ginobili isn't fine right now in these areas. He should have work his ass off in the gym during that injury instead of being lazy.
Posters correct me if I'm wrong but IIRC they had one day of practice last month. I think earlier in the rodeo road trip they had another practice, so this may be their third.
Him not being in better condition right now might be a good thing, the last thing we need is one of the more veteran guys peaking early.
It's still a long season for his older bodies so he has plenty of time to get into great condition in time for the playoffs a game every other day will make sure of it.
well like Manu said recently he's 34 and not 22 anymore. I would think being the age that he is that yes it takes a lot longer to get into shape (especially at the point where he got injured). I don't think it comes from Manu being lazy. Do you think Manu really wanted to be sitting on the bench for over a month. Besides I saw pictures and videos of him on the treadmill with his broken hand. Having said that, I don't think Manu's going to last that much longer. It seems like his body's starting to give up on him and he's becoming very injury prone.
Obvious question is: Why Manu traveled with team, sit instead of improving his conditioning in SA. Especially when he had injured hand.
Damn. I actually enjoyed Pops interview. He answered all the questions and was actually informative without too much wise ass.
Sounds like everyone is impressed with Tony's game.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia," but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go in against a Argentinian when DEATH is on the line!"
It's a trap. He and Pop have the league right where they want him.
He is 34.
+1
Agreed. I'd give the old guy a break, actually anybody over 30 should get a few extra weeks to "get in shape", especially in lieu of the crazy condensed season and no practices.
And that last bit may be unfortunately true as well. More fuel to the fire that maybe Manu needs to take a reduced bench role and less minutes. As well the spurs may be able to afford him doing that with the emergence of Danny Green.
