Woj blisters Bron's ass again! Read it and weep, ASG or not, he was afraid of the moment. Just like in 2007 Finals. Just like in the 2011 Finals. King without a ring. Woj zings his ass real good. this :

With the way Kobe Bryant mercilessly rode LeBron James in those final minutes, the way Kobe demanded to defend LeHype, the Miami Heat’s star had to shoot the ball. Dwyane Wade had broken Kobe’s nose in the third quarter, and now it was James’ turn to break his spirit in the fourth.

After all, this was an All-Star game, and ultimately the moment everyone had waited to witness. Game’s on the line, Bryant on James. There’s nowhere to go, nowhere to hide. Most of all, there’s nothing to lose. Take the shot, live with the consequences.
Six seconds left, the ball swung back to James, and he threw a long crosscourt pass that the West’s Blake Griffin grabbed before it could ever reach Wade. The expressions on Bryant and Carmelo Anthony’s faces – one an opponent and an enemy, one a teammate and a close friend – were unmistakable: Are you kidding me, LeHype?
Here’s the thing, too: James knows Bryant goes to great lengths to belittle his unwillingness to rise up in the final moments of his biggest games. Bryant has five les to James’ none, and had to bail James out in the fourth quarter of the gold-medal game of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Now Kobe was within inches, screaming into James’ face, “Shoot the [expletive] ball!” And, still, LeHype’s instincts weren’t to take ball and deliver it down Bryant’s throat. Score on Kobe, win the game and tell him to go to . Bryant would respect that.
    THE TRUTH

Woj just wrote what Laker fans have been saying for 4 years: Kobe saved his ass in 2008. I wonder how many ass whoopings Kobe dished out at Olympic practices? Kobe is a known -talker. He probably busted LeHype and Wade's ass so much that the broken nose he suffered was clearly a result of 4 years of pent up frustration.

Bryant was still incredulous when James marched out of a timeout with 1.1 seconds left and was the East player designated to pass to someone else to try and make a tying 3-pointer. Think Kobe would’ve let West coach Scott Brooks use him in that role? Or Durant? No way. James had six 3-pointers, tying Mark Price’s All-Star record, and wouldn’t he want a chance at redemption there?

Yet, the world was waiting for LeBron to make Kobe go silent, to stop the trash talk, the belittling, and end the game. So was Kobe. He was begging LeBron, but James wanted no part of that final shot the way he wanted no part of so many big shots in the Finals loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
Sooner or later, this will end for James. He’ll win his le and another and another, and he’ll finally understand he has to take that shot, that he can live with the consequences of the miss. Only thing Scottie Pippen James couldn’t do on Sunday was throw some crazy crosscourt pass while Kobe Bryant stood there in the final seconds pleading, begging – demanding – he come through him for the victory.
Take the shot, live with the consequences.
    World’s still watching, still waiting.

dude I wrote about this ad naseum yrs ago...by all accounts they played 1:1 during those 2008 Olympics and Scobe did indeed kick his ass 1:1...Scobe mentioning that he'd beat Lebron 1:1 last year was no joke he already did that and they were all witnesses...It was no secret...Back in 08 Kobe was on top of his game and in his prime.. none of them s could with him..literally...check out some of this team USA footage...

Lebron tries to check Kobe 1:1 during a game and look what happens....and then on the final play he runs away from guarding Kobe and lets Tayshuan have the assignment...I think this is where he learned to run away from the big moments...in 2008 when he tried to come in and say that Team USA was his and Coach K came on out and it was Kobe's team ..Kobe took that from him in 2008 amongst his peers behind the scenes and he's never been the same...ironically it's also when he, Wade and Bosh decided to team up after Kobe took their shine...

I think Kobe actually wanted LBJ to man up, kind of like how a father makes his son man up. Lebron just can't play in the final minutes, the way he speaks when asked questions and his demeanor when under pressure, he just doesn't have it in him to elevate or even sustain his play when it's all or nothing.

Expectations for James are really starting to decline. He's looking more & more like a Clyde Drexler than all time great

Lebron has already done enough to be considered a top 25 player of all-time, tbh..another MVP, this season, makes him a lock for the top 20..

Well something did happen after those 08 Olympics.

In 07 no one expected LeBron to go to the Finals. His game 5 vs the Pistons was as clutch as I have ever seen. In the 08 playoffs he took a much better Celtics team to the absolute brink of elemination with Pierce having to play his very best to keep the Celtics.

And then the Olympics happened. LeBron must have said every time he was on TV that he was the leader of that team, and then in the one meaningful compe ive game they end up playing it's Kobe, Melo and Wade (in that order) that really end up winning the game. After that he was never the same. He's lost three straight years while having home court advantage. I can't blame him much for Orlando, though he did seem scared in the clutch even then, but his Celtics and Mavericks series have been abysmal for his standards.

I'd like to see what happens this summer. Not only will there still be Kobe shadowing him, but Rose and Durant coming strongly for that crown as well.
