We just started a 25 million dollar renovation of our athletic facilities. All coming from Donors.
We just started a 25 million dollar renovation of our athletic facilities. All coming from Donors.
Why would it need to all come from Donors?
You guys are in the $EC!
Lets see them keep giving after 3 and 4 win seasons.
Really? You are going to be more than 25 Mil in the hole from the switch most likely. Unless you are making substantially more money soon, it really doesn't. The Big 12 has always been in the same neighborhood as the SEC in payouts, in fact currently the Pac-12 and Big 10 make more than the SEC. You are foolish if you think the SEC is just money central. Yes you might make more in the SEC, but you make the most by winning and winning big, which A&M will not do in the SEC. The move makes no sense. Also the SEC traditionally does not have the largest payouts of BCS conferences, the Big 10 does. What metropolises are in the SEC footprint? Atlanta? sweet. Montgomery? Birmingham? Baton Rouge? Columbia? Charleston? Big 10: Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Cincinatti, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh just to name a few. If you think that the SEC will ever make more than the Big 10 as a conference or substantially more you are stupid. The SEC will soon revamp there TV deals and will undoubtedly have the highest payout among BCS conferences once that is done. Saying the move makes no financial sense to A&M is beyond re ed.
Actually that isn't how the buyout works, at least since the league amended the bylaws following NU and CU's exit. Its the last two years of revenue. So you won't get your roughly 17 million this year, and you owe the league roughly 15.8 million from last year. You will likely cut a deal with the league because you can't afford it, because your athletic department is still in the red from past liabilities. Please stop. You are showing your ignorance.A decade to make up for our buyout? Instead of the big12 paying us our 15 mil this season they will keep that money and all is done. There will be no "paying off the buyout" year by year.
I also meant paying off in terms of making up the revenue you lost due to not getting this years. But, please continue like you actually know something.
And actually according to this:
"Conference bylaws call for an exit-fee payment of 90 percent of what a school would have received in two years of revenue. The Aggies received $11 million from the Big 12 for 2010-11, and they were set to make $20 million for the upcoming academic year, the same as Texas and Oklahoma."
You are actually projected, at least until the tv deals are revamped, projected to lose money in the SEC about 2.5 million per year. In addition, like I said, it is two years of revenue. Please stop, this is too much fun.

Instead of responding to all of that re ed bull you just posted I will tell you this.
A&M will not pay a dime over 15 million in exit fees TOTAL.
Really? You are contractually obligated to pay at least 90% of $31 million and you think you are getting off at $15 million? And this children is why Texas has a t-10 law school and A&M does not. You are an idiot and, if you haven't noticed this entire thread is laughing at you. Joe Jamail couldn't get you out for less than 20 million. A&M agreed to the new bylaws and in no way has the Big 12 broken its fiduciary duty. And while they won't pay the full 30 million they owe, they aren't going to pay less than half of what they owe. In addition the conference could simply withhold this years revenue (which was roughly Nebraska's penalty), which should total nearly 20 million.
Also you have used the word re ed twice, using it just shows your ignorance. Its offensive to plenty of people including me. Find a better word and expand your vocabulary.

Nebraska and Colorado both paid approximately 8 million to exit the big12. I'll pretty much double that and say that is what A&M will pay. (close to 15 mil)
You keep rambling on with your made up numbers about exit fees and such. You continue to look re ed.
Entire thread laughing? Lol who? A bunch of Texas fans?... The numbers I am giving are a quick google search away from confirming it yourself. Not completely made up with no merit. I have no idea where you are getting your facts but you are way off base my friend. LOL at A&M paying 30 million to exit the big12.
lol getting on.It will cost Nebraska $9.25 million to withdraw from the Big 12 to head to the Big Ten.
Cash-strapped Colorado will pay $6.86 million to head to the Pac-10.

You realize the bylaws have been amended since then right? Nebraska's full buyout was 11-12 million. They paid roughly 80% of that. Your full buyout is 28-29 Million. 80% of that is about 24-25 million. A&M agreed to the new bylaws, and in no way has the big 12 broken its fiduciary duty. So comparing A&M's buyout to NU's is foolish at best. Different contract, situation and cir stances.
lol A&M paying 28-29 million to leave the big12. Not happening.
So did or didn't Auburn actually have to pay money when they won the championship?
Did or didn't they?
lol poor sec schools
To say that the SEC will not be hugely beneficial financially for the Aggies is just stupid.
Our buyout will not be $25MM.
how much more than by staying in the Big 12?
We'll see soon.
Even if it was $1 more, it would be a wise financial decision.
Not if it means getting ass whipped on a weekly basis by the SEC bosses.

"A&M said the Big 12 buyout will be $9.31 million, almost exactly the same as Nebraska’s $9.255 million last year on its way to the Big Ten. The Big 12 on Tuesday announced A&M’s buyout as $12.41 million, but an A&M official said the actual number is $9.31 million, once items like direct payments from the NCAA, bowl payouts, conference office expenses and officiating reimbursements are factored in."
The Conference will withhold an estimated $12,410,000 from Texas A&M's projected distribution for fiscal year 2012. However, the parties agreed that A&M will receive a portion of the benefit received by the Big 12 Conference from the signing of its television contract with Fox Sports, scheduled to commence July 1, 2012, and certain other concessions.

Where is this at?
Right here. The big 12 pussied up on this one. A&M was contractually obligated for 28 million. The fact that they negotiated it down is downright amazing. Congratulations to A&M for having some damn good negotiators. Now then, at least I can do math, unlike your brilliant ass. off now.
