That NES Ninja Turtles was garbage.
TMNT 2 for NES was boss, though.

Did he come to school on a skateboard and wear sunglasses inside?
He was pretty geeky tbh. He bragged about his surround sound setup he had at the house complete with subwoofers when playing DOOM. Said he sit there with all the lights off so he could get the full effect.

He let us get away with a lot so I wasn't complaining.

Played this one in school a lot, along with Oregon Trail, and Wolfenstein.

That NES Ninja Turtles was garbage.
Indeed, that first one was , but the second and third games on there were beat 'em classics for the platform, as was Hyperstone Heist for the Genesis. For some reason Turtles in Time always gets a mention from the SNES owners, but HH gets forgotten by the Sega crowd.

Glad to see that someone mentioned Crystalis as well. That, Dragon Warrior, and the original Legend of Zelda were old favorites of mine and thanks to the magic of NES emulators are ones that I've revisited in the last year or so.

On the Sega side of things, Shining Force 2 and 3 were some pretty sweet strategy RPGs, paving the way for Vandal Hearts and FF: Tactics (two of my favorites from the Playstation Era).

Gotta mention Streets of Rage 2. It was mostly a Final Fight rip off, but it was a damn fine one.

Then there was Rock n Roll Racing, which was just RC Pro Am on Steroids and digitized versions of songs like Born to Be Wild. Like SoR2 it didn't invent the genre, but it was one of the best refinements of the formula.

And then there was Zombies Ate My Neighbors, which went down in history as one of the few games to ever best the combined efforts of me and my brothers.

This is a masterpiece, and the gold standard of platform games. No platform game is as flawless as this one.

Damn, this thread is the goods. So many memories. Who needed a childhood?

I've recently been busting out my emulators....I've played all the way through Zelda, most of Zelda 2, Link to the Past, Super Mario 3, Contra, Mega Man 3, Rock & Roll Racing (didn't do the hardest difficulty, so got screwed out of the last level), Sonic 2. Currently working on Super Metroid (lost) and Super Castlevania (stuck).

    most difficult game ever
One of my proudest moments was the single time I beat level 3 on this flurking game. Then I found out that level 4 is actually MORE difficult...

And that's the story of the last time I played Battletoads.

One of three arcade games I ever plugged enough quarters into to finish.

The other two being X-Men and TMNT: The Arcade Game.

Virtually the same game with different characters and settings, but damn those were fun.

, never played that. I have my doubts it can hold a candle to the first 10 seconds of this vid, though.

The facials were a little less emphatic but there was less Speedo as well. And now we know what Lois Griffin was doing before she landed her role on Family Guy.
