In American society, you can offend and talk about certain groups and it's okay. However, if you offend and talk about the protected groups, you better prepare yourself to have stones thrown at you.
If you talk about liberal women, gays, Jews, or blacks, you better be prepared to deal with the consequences because people are going to be lining up to throw stones at you and destroy your name and reptuation. However, if you talk about Christians, Mormons, Muslims, fat people, conservative women, Asians, or smokers then it's okay because you can make fun of those groups.
