Under that reasoning:
Parker/Lowry
Ginobili/Allen
Deng/Wallace
P.Gasol/Smith
M.Gasol/Kaman
Lebron and Dwight
I kind of interpreted the OP as suggesting anyone who isn't considered a "superstar" is available as a role player. I don't consider any of those 4 guys mentioned as "superstars."
Under that reasoning:
Parker/Lowry
Ginobili/Allen
Deng/Wallace
P.Gasol/Smith
M.Gasol/Kaman
Lebron and Dwight
TOSB duncan is a role player also and is not as picking-worth as kobe![]()
Because there arent many superstars in this league. Those 4 are faces of their franchises, best scoreres, well paid.
So I can take Team like
Parker/Rondo/Billups
Ray Allen/Joe Johnson
Loul Deng/Josh Smith/Andre Iguoudala
Pau Gasol/Zach Randoplh
Roy Hibbert/Andrew Bynum
Those are role players for you ? They arent superstars, for sure.
for good measure I also picked Duncan in my squad as a role player
I'll meet you part way as you make a very fair point.
I'd consider Rondo, Deng, Josh Smith, Parker, Billups, and Hibbert role players. Parker and Billups were tough calls but I consider them more complementary players than franchise players. I kind of consider Iguodala a role player except he became the face of the Sixers after Iverson was traded. Bynum and Randolph are kind of on the fence for me. I'd lean towards not role players for both, but I wouldn't put up much of a debate against either being considered role players.
For me, when I chose my roster, I didn't take any "superstars," and I didn't really target guys who are "faces of their franchises" where they are either max or close to max players or the obvious go-to guy on the team. Guys like Ray Allen and Pau Gasol at one point in their careers were viewed as franchise players.
Gasol and Allen are the only two there that I'd understand not being called role players. The rest I'm good with being labeled as role players.
well now I'm lost... I thought it was an established fact on ST that Kobe is a role player and Gasol is the super star of the Lakers
tbh I don't really care just don't list all stars or guys that have a decent shot at making it (Danny Granger, Pierce, etc.) In your case I don't think Steph Curry is even close to making the team so he'd fit. I'm more curious to see what kind of team people would build
