I dunno if you guys spent anytime on the after game conversation over at ESPN, but Parker is getting some major love from fans. A lot of them are starting to mention he should be considered for MVP.

What is sad is that it takes a game against a big market before any one throws any love love his way. They are just doing it to try to keep the balance in check.

Even if he finished the year scoring 25 ppg and 10 apg, I don't see him winning the MVP. Not enough hype.

Can't even vote for Parker, thank God you can vote for Lin, Griffin, Aldridge, or Jefferson, though

He was already getting mentioned and the game he had against DRose quieted those talks.

Hopefully he'll kill Westbrook again and they'll start back up

Exactly what I was thinking. It takes him throttling Linsanity for everyone to open their eyes. And to TIMVP, that's messed up. Not sure why ESPN has no love for the guy, I admit I'm not a Parker fan. But the dude has been balling. The one hiccup was against the Bulls, granted that was a great stage for him to showcase the high level he has been playing at.

Lin is the silliest one of them all.

Dude had some good games against poor teams. Took them by surprise more than anything.

I love the Lin story...Great story...not an MVP

Al Jefferson, Nash, and Lin? I just ripped ESPN a new one. It really, honestly doesn't make any sense. How could you not put Parker on that list??? I'm not saying he is going to win it, or needs to be at the top of that fan vote, but he should be on the list for how well he has played this year.

Some of those names don't even deserve to be in the discussion. I don't think that Tony necessarily deserves the MVP, but he should at least be in the discussion.

for me there is a clear top 2: lbj and durant with lbj being ahead imo then you can have arguments for the rest of the candidates

Win it? No, but he should be considered for top 5 IMO which is a big accomplishment.

Parker would have to average 30/15 the rest of the season to even have a shot.

Parker doesn't deserve to be in MVP talks. Less than five players are MVP candidates.

The award Parker could get after his great season is being on a all NBA team. If he continues like that, he should get on the 3rd one with a not that long-shot of making the 2nd one.

An All-NBA team and a top ten finish in MVP voting would clinch Parker's Hall of Fame bid, IMO. He'd basically be the next Joe Dumas.

    Joe Dumars
    2 championships
    3 All-NBA teams
    6 All-Star teams
    1 top ten MVP season
    1 Finals MVP

If Tony Parker accomplishes what I laid out above, his resume would improve to:

    Tony Parker
    3 championships
    2 All-NBA teams
    4 All-Star teams
    3 top ten MVP seasons
    1 Finals MVP

I had to throw in my two cents as well:

un ingbelievable Parker isn't on a list that Nash, Jefferson, and Lin make. What an absolute joke. The lack of respect the Spurs get is just such a shame. I dont understand it. We have this perception of being boring but in reality we are a damn fun team to watch. Parker is the best one man fast break in the league for the past 5+ years, an incredibly fun guy to watch go to work, and nobody in the nation recognizes. I just hope true basketball fans respect what he has done, because he will begin to decline in the coming years without ever having gotten the respect he deserved.
I dont think Parker deserves to be a legit candidate, especially when stacked up against the favorites, but he deserves consideration more so than half that list. What a joke. What I said in the last sentence of that comment is what really bums me out the most. I know we get no love as a team, but it ends of damaging the legacies of our guys and thats what is most unfair.

Joe Dumars has also 4 all defensive 1st team and 1 2nd team
And one of his all nba selection was 2nd team. It will be really hard to be 2nd team for Parker with Rose, Wade, Bryant, Westbrook, Paul etc...

Joe Dumars resumé would still be better IMO but not by far

Agreed. But the issue is ESPN just throwing colorful on a chalkboard and calling it news. Tony Parker is much more of an MVP candidate that Jeremy Lin, Steve Nash or Al Jefferson.

I agree, TIMVP: that should seal it. But with guys like Dennis Johnson already in there (no hate just saying) thanks to the heavy emphasis on being a winner, I honestly dont think there is a chance he doesnt get in as it stands now. He may have to wait for a bit, but he should absolutely be a lock already.
