I agree with you on this in general, however I do have to say that we shouldn't even be talking about the words, rather the intent. I am not commenting on the intent of the kids involved as I wasn't there, but I think I read somewhere in this thread that the coach decided on the suspension, and I would defer to his judgement there.

bizarre that this made national news.
I was at a game this year (not these schools) where the fans chanted USA, USA while a kid on the other team shot free throws, but he actually was from another country. Would that make it ok?
BTW- he was a white kid from Serbia.
