Dr. J
I was just curious to know who everybody's favorite all time non-Spurs player was. Mine is Wilt Chamberlain, mainly because he routinely made the impossible look easy.
Hakeem The Dream before I got to become a Duncan-addict.
I can't name one player, sorry
Larry Bird: perharps my favorite player ever; amazing for a non athletic white guy who looked like someone you would destroy at your local gym
Magic: versatile, specatcular; loved to share the ball(s)
Jordan: well, no comment; plus he makes it easier to bash Kobe
Hakeem : best center ever IMO; Kareem and Wilt
Dominique: more versatile than people give him credit for; incredibly charismatic; and when it comes to dunking, best combination of power and grace IMO
Isiah: not the most consistent legend ever (could score 30 pts in one quarter, and 4 pts in a whole game 2 days later); but still, unreal ball handling, fantasting passing, and as tough and compe ive as they come
Jerry West: clutch mother er who played hard every night
Clyde Drexler: ok, he didnt have Jordan's outside shooting and killer instinct .... but still, beautiful player to watch, wether it was gliding or leading a fastbreak, head down, and concluding it with a smooth behind-the-back pass
I would count him as my favorite non-spur as well ... but then I remember him being a Spur for one season![]()
fotgot about his stint in SA![]()
easy to forget about that whole season ... but it brought us Timmy !!!
Sean Elliott of the Detroit Pistons.
Anfernee Hardaway...shame the injuries wrecked his career.
Magic.
And we did spank the Lakers twice that season
, completely forgot about him
Pre-injury, Orlando's Penny was a total beast; he had GOAT potential
Both Pippen and Jordan hand no answer defensively for him
Also, healthy Grant Hill; beautiful to watch
John Starks
T-Mac
They would both go so hard in games... I wanted to play like them
so if Dominique was a Spur ... Grant Hill is my choice !
Sprewell was streaky, but when he was on fire, he was REALLY on fire
I'm not just refering to game 5 of the NYK-Spurs series
Quite a few games, actually; I remember a regular season game on NBC (rip) from 2001-2002 @ Milwaukee
He had an ok game through 3.5 quarters, then exploded midway through the 4th, and in OT, to finish with 48
And he scored in so many diffrent ways too
Tough call between Barkley, Tim Hardaway, and Bernard King for me.
Lefty's fist list is good except I have no idea about West.
I think I'd add Reggie Miller to the list though. I used to hate that m'fer but when he got hot, he was as good as anyone shooting the ball.
As a side note, the 30 for 30 episode, Winning Time, is excellent. Also features John Starks, who was inconsistent as but I liked the way he played.
WTF is wrong with me today?
Also forgot about him
Reggie was mainly a shooter, but he was awesome
I know the history but I always respected Karl Malone. He was a true badass and I would have loved to have had him as a Spur.
